I am very pale compared to my features so usually use moisturiser with a tanning lotion in it.. Not sure how safe that is now so was thinking of getting a spray tan.

Are spray tans ok in pregnancy?

I wouldn't if I were you -- too many chemicals. Just use tinted moisturiser...

i was just reading something about this the other day, and it said to ring the spa and ask them

hope that helps :)

From the NHS, more reading material:

www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/955.aspx?CategoryID=54&SubCategoryID=131

The NHS doesn't advise it because it could cause an allergic reaction (rather than risk of any tanning ingredient harming the baby as the active ingredient does not penetrate the skin).

FWIW, before I read anything about it, I have used a moisuriser with a bit of a tanning ingredient in and didn't have any kind of allergic reaction.

Think of all the chemicals you would be inhaling and absorbing through the skin. Not a good idea IMO. Bronzer maybe?

I agree with the above posts that you'd be throwing a lot of chemicals at yourself - however, I asked my qualified beautician, who's had a baby herself, and she says they are completely safe.

Your decision!

I had booked in for a spray tan in 1 st trimester & they wouldn't do it when they realised I was pg. Was a bit gutted as I looked grey at the time.

why wouldn't you consider a quick hop into a solarium?
ten minutes won't give you cancer or wrinkles, it will perk you up, give you a glowing complexion and Vit D for you and the baby. much better than a spray tan while pregnant.
