Is this normal??

I'm 31+5 and I know a certain amount of swelling is to be expected by now, but it just seems odd that it doesn't go down by now.. And the funny thing is I didn't even notice until an hour after I came home, because my feet didn't feel uncomfortable at all. Just had a MW appointment this week Monday and no protein in urine, so I suppose no fear of pre-eclampsia..?

How about your hands? Are they ok?

White spots in vision?

How swollen are they? Can you still put your shoes on?

It may just be the extra weight and pressure. But I too would of thought they'd go down.

My pre eclamsia hit me fast and hard, and took 4 days of hospital bed rest to see my ankles again! So just keep an eye. And if you are worried at all, just take a sample in the morning to your local centre/hospital and they would happily test it for you.

Check the symptoms of PE and if you have any other of them call your.mw ASAP

I checked the other symptoms and I don't have any of them. Also BP was normal still on Monday. I just tried my ring and it went on fine. But the ancles are still puffy although slightly less.. I think I'll see how they are in the morning and if they're still swollen I'll go to my local GP surgery.

Gosh that sounds awful, sorry to hear you had to spend 4 days in the hospital!

I had same started at 35 weeks, then blood pressure started to go up and ended up overnight in hospital getting monitored. Slight traces of protein after food, but fine if keep organs flushed with lots of water.
I have no other symptoms BTW!
Now 38 weeks and am having to take it very easy in order to keep BP stable, am on Methyldopa BP lowering tablets and have to keep a constant eye on my urine.
My top tip for relieving the swelling is to indulge in a lovely Reflexology session and drink lots and lots and lots of water.
Fingers crossed you just have normal pregnancy related swelling, 2 of my friends had such with no complications.
Good luck with the rest of it.

Yes I think it is normal.

I'm 38 weeks and someone's swapped my ankles out for elephants. No other signs of PE though and tested on Weds (all fine)

No amount of putting my feet up, eating chocolate or drinking tea will bring the swelling down (the last two are just my remedies but I'm pretty sure they should work)

I believe that sleeping on your left may reduce the swelling. Not working for me I'm afraid. Nor is drinking lots and lots of water. Just got to brave it out!

Keep an eye on it, just in case it is PE.

Drink lots of water and go for a good walk to get circulation going. I really notice if i've had a sedentary day everything fills up with water.
