When i was pregnant with DD1 the sonogropher said she wasnt sure of the sex, thought she was a girl but advised us not to buy anything pink lol anyway we went on to have a 4d scan to confirm she was a girl.

Have been told we are having a DD2 this time Smile but the lady said they would only ever put their heads on the line to say its a boy and they could see the bits.

So for some reason this time im questioning wether we should beleive it lol or pay for another 4d scan.
Was just curious if anyone else thought this or knew anyone who had been told they were having a girl and had a boy ( i know 2 )

I am not the slightest bit bothered btw of the sex am just a bit concious of the fact if it was a boy he would have to wear pink for a least 6 weeks Grin

i know of one told it was a boy and really was a girl, but none the other way round although i'm sure there are some

i know more likely that they predict girl then its a boy than other way round.

I didn't feel well and wasn't really concentrating at 20w scan i must admit. Rather shocked to say the least when the sonographer said a girl!! we have three boys you see.

we are having 4d scan end of next month to clarify tho dh was very sure nothing could be sign unlike the others who were very obviously boys!!

I know one told it was a girl but it was a boy, and one told it was a boy but it was a girl.

I was told at 2 scans (16w+3d and 23w+4d) that it looked like a girl but they couldn't say for definite. Then I had a growth scan at 35 weeks and it was very clear that it was a girl! Smile

we were told girl and then had a bot but the sonographer was newly qualified and was pretty bad on all accounts so we always new there was a chance he was wrong. Been told DC2 is a boy so we shall see in 5 weeks!

boy not bot LOL

I don't know of anyone who has been told they have one sex and then it's turned out to be the other. Most of my friends have used the same hospital and although the predictions have been right each time, a couple of them couldn't find out because the sonographer wasn't certain so refused to say either way which I think is better. Having said that I have 3 boys and have been told this time I'm having a girl but I won't be convinced until she's here!

An old colleague of mine was told his second child was a girl and it turned out to be a boy, but he's the only one. And he was thrilled, as he'd really wanted a son and thought he was going to have two daughters.

For medical reasons I had a lot of scans in my latter two pregnancies.

If they are using a high resolution scanner and have a good clear view, then it's very accurate (if you can see how the chambers of the heart are working, you can see either a penis or the "golden arches" of the folds of a girl very clearly. But not everyone will have such detailed scans or such co-operatively positioned babies and so you can't be so sure.

i was told at 20 weeks with my first pregnancy that it was a girl, got all excited with buying pink and 3 weeks later at an emergency scan was told SHE was actually a HE.......DS was born at 42 weeks!

My second baby i was told was a girl. She was indeed a girl BUT at same time my sister was told she was also expecting a girl.....all the way through they stuck to that and sister went into hospital with GIRLS bits......when baby was born SHE was actually a HE.....we made a mad dash to replace all pink with blue! luckily in the bed next to her on maternity was a lady who had come in to have her SON adn she actually had a daughter so they did manage to do a swap of most stuff!

Im now 32 weeks pregnant and at 20 week scan was told i was having a boy. Had a scan 2 weeks later and they said BOY again and we got a fantastic shot of his bits BUT i still went and had a 4d scan to make sure......he is still a boy! LOL

My best friend was told she was having a girl, and it was a boy. I hadn't realised how many people had experienced that until reading this thread!

Leilababyno1 · 18/03/2011 13:48

Not common.Smile

thefurryone · 18/03/2011 14:46

I know someone who was told it was a girl, even after a 4D scan and it turned out to be a boy Shock

I could have a rant about how much the pink/ blue thing annoys me but I'll hold back for now Smile

A friend of mine was told she was having a boy and then gave birth to a girl.
