Hi Ladies,

Has anyone else experienced bleeding in early pregnancy? Today I've had a bloody discharge (a dark pinky colour) and although I've read it's quite normal, I can't help worrying :(. It's been off and on all day. Any comments would be very much appreciated x

So sorry freelance. I can't imagine how tough it is, but I really admire your outlook xx

Freelance, I've been there, twice actually. I too was philosophical but had very very upset moments too. It's a strange time but you will be better soo, physically and mentally. Don't want to sound patronising, so I'll stop there.

Figaro, hope things are going ok. Fwiw, I have had 2 MCs - one with bleeding, one without, and I have two sons - one pg with bleeding, one without. (The MCs were between the two boys.) Bleeding on its own doesn't prove anything.

Best wishes to you both x

Penguin, please update after your appointment? :)

freelance sorry about your news

my symptoms eased up and have been fine for the last few days. Doc seemed happy enough and have a scan next week (although they snuck in a smear test while they were there).

Great news!! Don't worry about me. I am doing well in the circumstances. Sad at times but moving on and looking forwards. Am sure it will all go well for you xx

Freelance so sorry to hear that but agree with others that it's good to have a positive outlook. I've had a MMC and can imagine what you're feeling, although in my case it was a total surprise (nasty one!) as I had no bleeding or cramping whatsoever - found out during scan :(

You're thinking about it the right way - if it's meant to be it will - you can't really do much in the first three months and sadly quite a lot of pregnancies end in MC :(

I am sure you will go on to have a healthy pregnancy and I wish you all the best, big hugs,

It's been a while since this post, however, I thought I'd write my story to help moms who are now having a similar challenge. I had vaginal spotting with bright red colour when I was supposed to be 6+4 weeks. My doctor thought it might be a small detachment of the fetus from the uterus so he suggested I lie down as much as possible and we'd have a scan in a few days. I had the same spotting, sometimes brown colour and sometimes bright red colour for 5 days in a row on and off throughout the day. I had a vaginal scan and my baby was there with a normal heartbeat of 122 beats/minute. Also there was no sign of detachment so my doctor said there is no need for worry. I also measured 6+6 instead of 7+2 that I'd expect, but my doctor said that this is not a worry neither. He said that it happens sometimes for implantation bleed to last longer for some women. I would think that by week 7 that I'm now, the implantation would have finished, but looks like it's normal to have some spotting in early pregnancy. I'll be going to have another scan in two weeks so I can update you then.

I'd start your own thread then you'll get some comments specific to your own situation.
What i would say is that brown discharge is not abnormal, but if you're particularly worried, eg if you have pain etc, then speak to your midwife or gp.
In my case, i have two sons and 2 miscarriages. 1 son, I had brown spotting throughout the pregnancy, almost from day 1. The other son, I had no blood, no spotting at all.
Best of luck, hope all goes well 💕

Crazy this popped up for me tonight..,. I'm 6 weeks and have just started bleeding tonight, with some cramps. It's only light but definitely red and definitely different to how I felt yesterday or the day before. I am fearing the worst :( I only found out a week ago and after conceiving naturally after IVF round I was so happy about my dream. :(
