I have severe SPD, Iv Had since about 20 Weeks, I'v Been to a Physio a few times and been given exercises, have a support belt and crutches since about 27 weeks but they can't do anymore, My Doctor and registrar are now given co codein the strongest ones and tramadol recently as its getting to the stage were it is to difficult to walk and they have now said they cant do anything but but they think I should get induced 37 weeks or earlier, Iv now spoken to my midwife who agrees that i shouldnt be pregnant any longer than I have too and induction would be best, but now I have to go to a consultant and not quit sure what they will say............

will they agree as all the other health professionals have said induction is the last thing they can do, also is it possible to ask for a c-section due to severe spd.Im now 31 weeks.

Has anyone else in my area had this or anyone has a rough idea of what might happen........

I had a c-sec with my first due to spd. Make them aware you can't open your legs properly which will make their job harder and you can't get in half the positions either. They can actually do you more damage making you have a natural delivery so much so my consultant won't let you have them naturally unless you really want to.

Which hospital are you at in Edinburgh?
I have a friend who works at one of them, and she knows of a MW who specialise in treating SPD - have you seen her? been told about her? She was writing a paper on her work, must see if it's been done yet.

Sorry you're having such a rough time. :(

Thats what I was worried about having a natural birth becuase I can hardley move so that re-assuring... I'm going to be at the simpsons royal as i'm high risk........ I havnt been told about her, I'v just been told there is nothing else thye can do.. but mybe the consultant will have an idea as I have an appointment on the 30th

thanks :)
