AIBU to feel mad!

My bosses are currently recruiting to cover my maternity and a colleague?s sick leave. I will not be going on maternity until the end of July. They printed off a list of ?no-go? questions that you can?t ask in interviews and we all had a giggle at how PC the world is now ? an example being that you can?t ask someone?s height now!
It ended with ? ooh I wonder if you can ask if she is planning on having a baby ? hello!?! Ok ? I?ve been in my roll under a year but they employed me 3 weeks before I got married and I?m +30 ? you do the math!

Just really annoyed at the comment and that they expected me to find it funny ? I didn?t and felt really guilty to be pregnant when I shouldn?t!

Grrr!

Rant over

Sounds like it was meant as a harmless joke however insensitive. Obviously they can't ask that and they know it. I'm sure they realized that the joke was unsuitable when you were not amused.

.. and let's face it: you accept you were all having a giggle. You can't have it both ways.

Yes we were all having a giggle ? but together and not at anyone?s expense. I obviously was right in thinking it was out of order as my boss apologised for being so insensitive later on. Just thought it was a tad out of order to single one person out ? they wouldn?t have joked about asking my other colleague about their illness.
