Am 27+3, my BP is normal, urine normal other things all normal. Except my eyes. The best way I can describe it is you know when you close your eyes and rub them it is very 'busy' - mine are like that all the time - especially when I look at the sky or a white wall or something like that. It is not blurry, not flashes and no black spots. Just this business - is this normal!?

Have you been tested for gestational diabetes?

It's a very slim chance but sometimes that can affect eyesight and make it a bit busy/blurry/difficult to focus at certain things?

Probably nothing esp with normal urine checks but worth checking out for reassurance purposes.

i had that in my last and a bit in this pregnancy. I never had GD.. just the slight change in your blood sugar level can mess with you eyes a bit. I got very low prescription glasses and wore them. It went away. Optician said that if i didnt wear them that i would strain my eyes and end up needing them in the long term

jimper · 17/03/2011 10:37

Thanks for the replies! I haven't been tested yet for GD, but I do have that test next week so between now and then I will worry! You don't think I need to act before then?

I do wear glasses anyway and this is worse when I take them off....it is so weird!

I have to admit I have had that in both my pgs and had gd in both :( - its always a possibility

Do you mean like little transparent tadpoles? They're just a different type of floater and occasionally they can indicate problems with the retina - so if they're new go and get them checked out (Optometrist can do it).

dappleton · 17/03/2011 14:16

I second what Karoleann says. However the advice of Sarahmia's Optician is a bit worrying and I wouldn't go ahead and get new specs unless there is a very good reason for doing so as frequent changes in prescription are fairly common in pregnancy and what is the correct prescription one day can be wrong the next. A check up for the health of your eyes however can never be a bad idea if you have concerns.

I get that. To the point that when I look out the bedroom window in the morning I see the whizzing more than the scenery! GP told me it was just the increased blood volume and I stopped worrying. Now I've started again!
