Nearest private ultrasound clinic to banbury anyone?

So yeah - i'd like to go private for a 11 week scan (i'm 10 weeks).

My MW has told me my national health one, which is booked for nearly 3 weeks time (!) won't look at the nasal bone as well as the neck. (Why??)

I can't bare the wait - and i'm worried about abnormalities.

i live very near Banbury, North Oxfordshire and cant find anywhere closer than central Oxford which is a bit of a nightmare for me to get to from her.

Any help would be so welcome.

What about Standlake, is that too far? Try Beardmill? www.beardmillclinic.com/

misty0 · 15/03/2011 19:55

Thanx jasmine (nice name ....) I'll try those x

Victoria at Beardmill is wonderful - does a very very thorough scan looking at each and every marker and does the bloods too so you have your risk factor in just a couple of days. Scan images are the best quality and whilst you wait you get to watch the mill stream for fish (you'll find out what I mean!). Money very well spent

Just looked at that site! Does look realy nice.

Did you have to wait long for your appt. ?

Nope, couple of days. Had my 12 wks scan there because 2 attempts at JR failed to get nuchal measurement. Victoria managed to move bump around easily and got measurement, looked for nasal bone, did femur measurement, looked closely at heart and even into brain (found one which was quite a relief!)She even told me the likely sex by looking at the angle of the genital something or other and then did a 3d image for me to take home Smile. Bloods returned in a couple of days and results on phone and in post. Great service, would be there waving at bump every week if I could afford it!

Fetal Imaging Centre www.nuchalscan.co.uk/

Went in my first pregnancy, lady is lovely ... can't remember her name. Had a 9 week scan there and then went back for a 4d later on and because baby was in a bad position she rescanned me for free a week later. Did the same for a friend of mine and neither of us can recommend them highly enough.

PipCarrier · 15/03/2011 20:26

Sorry www.nuchalscan.co.uk/

I'm going to ring them up tomorrow!

My OH has been hinting at me being paranoid, lol, but i'm going to show him this thread. This sounds like just what i'm looking for.

Was she right about the sex jasmine? (i mean of the baby)

Misty dunno yet I'm 27 wks. Have been told 3 times now its a boy and last time I got a willy scan so I think it is likely she is right..hope so, the nursery is green and blue!

misty0 · 15/03/2011 20:51

Wow! Hope it's right too. Smile I'm impressed that she could even hint at the gender at only 12 weeks. That is one careful inspection!

This pregnancy will be the first time i get to find out the sex of babe, as my previous ones were in an area where the hospital policy was not to tell.

I've always said i wouldn't be fussed about knowing in advance - but when you said about your scan and the gender ect. i got all excited! lol

i DO want to know Grin

Hi rightontime Smile Congrats!

So your going to the Horton eventualy? I'm just 10 weeks pg, 2 weeks till my scan there, and am thinking of starting a thread to ask about other ladies experiences of the local hospitals round here.

Nice to hear from you. Don't be sorry! xx

Yep I'll be at the horton. Been there twice before too. Was considering going to chippy MW led unit but it is too far and the last baby came fairly quickly and the 5minute journey to the horton was hell!

Direct me to your thread if you start one it will be interesting to see what other options are out there.

Good luck for your scan. x

AgBag · 16/03/2011 13:26

Hi Ladies, I'm also in Banbury, 9 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I've only recently moved to the town. I'd also be keen to hear what others say about the Horton and general baby stuff for Banbury!

Diamondsamdrubies · 16/03/2011 13:48

I'm going to the EPU unit at the Horton on Friday. Any experiences/ tips most welcome. I'm in Oxford. JR was too busy to accommodate me at such short notice.

misty0 · 16/03/2011 14:00

OK ladies i'm going to start a new thread about the Banbury area,

we'll see who knows what Grin

C u there x

Hortons not so bad really. I feel like a bit of a statistic after the birth but their antenatel care is good.

AgBag · 16/03/2011 15:29

Diamondsamdrubies I had a scan at the Horton EPU last week. I started bleeding so was given an early scan (at 8 weeks). Fortunately everything appeared fine.

My experiences of the Horton for the scan were good. We went at 12.30 and there was noone else in the waiting area. The scan seemed to be extremely quick which made me wonder how they managed to see anything, but I guess they are well trained and know what they are looking for. The lady seemed very nice and reassuring (considering my circumstances). Generally it was a good experience.

After seeing the good scan we were sent to the Gynaecology ward to speak to a Dr. We literally had to walk past people's beds to the waiting area and had quite a wait to see the Dr. but when we saw her she was very good, although could give me no explanation for the bleeding.

Hope your scan goes well!
