hi

i've done 14 pregnancy tests 8 tesco, 2 superdrug, 2 clearblue digital.

All tesco positive, clearblue and superdrug negative.

Had a positive test this morning. Went to the doctors today they did a urine sample it was negative!?

Any advice please x

Haven't a clue but that is a whole lot of testing!

When are you due?

ShowOfHands · 14/03/2011 16:05

Either it's too early on to show up on all tests. Or you're experiencing a chemical pregnancy.

Sadly, only time will tell. Is your period late?

supergreenuk · 14/03/2011 16:08

My experience with clear blue digital is very good. Showed positive for both pregnancy the day before my due day. Doctors showed negative.

bell77 · 14/03/2011 16:10

I know!! It is stupid really! I just thought clearblue were more accurate!? I am late yes. But how accurate is a doctors? I used tesco own brand with my two other children and they didn't fail me. But I feel stupid that the doctors test id neg! Very confused!

Could you ask your GP to send you for a blood test? If you say you have had so many positives and also a few negatives the GP will see the confusion? That really is the only way to know for sure without waiting too long.

ShowOfHands · 14/03/2011 16:14

Clearblue are not more accurate than most tests, a lot of them test the same miu levels. And clearblue are definitely not as sensitive as some tests. Depends on how much hcg they're designed to pick up.

GP's test will usually pick up a pregnancy when you're late but it's dependent on so many things. When you ovulated, how quickly the baby implants, how quickly you produce hcg (vast range of normal), how concentrated the urine was etc.

Wait a few days and test again with any brand test. Cheap from ebay or amazon in bulk if you want to pee on lots of sticks.

Thanks everyone. Ive never had a problem before. I asked for a blood test, but they said I have got to take in another urine sample tomorrow morning and if I am still having symptons thwen another one next week! Such a nightmare! : ) Any recommended brands? x

Any brand. Go to poundland and get 2 for £1. Or any supermarket own brand. Any test. They're all fine.

memphis83 · 14/03/2011 16:26

get the doc to give you a blood test but when i was pg i bought the 1st response one thats supposed to show earlier than other tests along with clear blue and tesco, I only had to show the tesco one my pee and it flashed up pregnant clear as day, i was only 4 weeks and the doc one came up negative too!

grubbalo · 14/03/2011 16:40

And I know it isn't supposed to make any difference, but I still think early morning wee is the best (particularly early on) - I tested negative with the supposedly amazingly low tolerance Superdrug tests the day my period was due, and then 2 days later another test came up positive.

Good luck

ShowOfHands · 14/03/2011 16:41

Early morning wee does make a difference in early testing. If you haven't weed for 10 hours, your urine will be more concentrated.

But once you're late the theory is that you can test at any time of day with sufficient hcg showing up to effect an accurate result.

MrsVidic · 14/03/2011 16:45

I was told you can get a false negative but there's no such thing as a false positive

Leilababyno1 · 14/03/2011 16:56

If you are late, it's quite strange that all tests arn't coming up positive?? I would think only time will tell in this case...As others have said it is possible that you might be experiencing a chemical pregnancy?

I would say re test again in a couple of days! And ask doc for blood test- to be sure either way..

Good-Luck!Smile
