i thought this was supposed to happen after birth!?

Obviously, i know lanisoh is highly recommended, but im on a very tight budget and cant justify a tenner when we're trying to get the rest of babys stuff AND attempting to furnish a house.

any advice/alternitives would be appreciated! also any tips for my third trimester?

thanks in advance :)

Hello! I'm 29 weeks too! I'm using a really thick moisturiser like Nivea on my nipples instead of all the expensive stuff, and its working, and doesn't cost a bomb and one tub will last you 6 months!

Good luck with the shopping and furnishing! Still haven't done mine!

I rub my belly with grape seed oil blend I make up myself & then rub my hands on my boobs too. Seems to be taking care of it all.

Re tips for 3rd tri, if at all possible, keep as active as you can.

HipHopopotomus how do you make up the grape seed blend... and do you reckon it works on stretch marks too?

happycamel · 14/03/2011 15:14

perfectly normal I'm afraid. If you look closely you'll see little holes appearing where the milk will leak.

The same thing happened to me and from then on I could squeeze out colustrum. I'm now 37 weeks and doing colostrum harvesting because I've got GD so my baby may need supplementary feeds. It's very weird sitting in the bath squuezing out milk whilst still heavily pregnant.

I used baby oil on my bump and breasts but if what you are describing is the same as I had then it's bits of nipple tissue coming away to reveal the gaps where the milk will come out.

Chrononaut · 14/03/2011 15:24

this is the thing, i started leaking clear fluid from my boobs back in my second trimester (occasionally bits of colustrum) but its feeling like leather and chapping a little now, just came as a bit of a shock!

mamamona thanks! we're waiting on a house ( dh made redundant so in temp accomodation ) and hoping to get one very soon! however having to entirely kit out a house in less than 10 weeks just seems impossible, but im determined to get it done ;)

mamamona that is what I made it for. I mix grape seed oil (lovely light, no odour, easily absorbed) with neroli & mandarin essential oils and use as a belly rub. DP & DD use it too - they love it. I just mix it up myself. Neroli & mandarin are both safe to use in PG & good for skin. Very successful last PG but I may not have got stretch marks anyway - who knows?

You can buy grape seed oil cheaply on internet - I paid £7 for a litre. Great for baby massage too.

Chrononaut eBay everything you need or get 0% finance options on furniture. Me and DH are quite tight financially at the moment, (hence putting off buying things for the baby just yet) I'm due to go on maternity leave end of April, so it will be a rush job then I suppose.

But it CAN be done!! Whilst you haven't moved yet, get all your research done on what you need and what your budget is and shortlist places that sell them, or watch the items on ebay, and when you are ready, you will feel more organised and in control.

I'm due 27th May, when is yours? Excited about having a Summer baby?

HipHopopotomus Thank you for such a fantastic tip! I'm googling it already!!

Eglu · 14/03/2011 15:37

Vaseline should work on your nipples for now too. It is very cheap Grin

mamamona · 14/03/2011 15:47

Oh yeah! Vaseline! I second that. Its excellent!

HipHopopotomus · 14/03/2011 16:16

you're welcome - if it works on this thick hide of mine it will sort anyone out Grin
