Pet Peeves at 25 weeks

I will preface this by saying, I have really been struggling with lower back pain, to the point where I can hardly walk and have been talking to my midwife/Dr about it; And, I now have an obvious bump.

But that still does not stop people from walking into me! I was in town, struggling and was patiently standing to one side out of the way for my family, when a woman to my left who wasn't paying any attention turned and knocked straight into me, really jarring my back... Aaarggghhhh!!!!!!

Then my sister and brother in law were commenting on how our nan, who is now in a home, is walking faster than me right now. Then, surprise how, big I am already and how much bigger I might end up being...

People parking their cars so close to yours that you can't physically get in or out of the car without help.

Anyone else with pet peeves to share?

Not really related to other people's lack of consideration, but I've found that the cubicles in the ladies loos at work aren't very big and I keep opening the door into my bump when I leave... (I'm 28 weeks)
Not being able to persuade the dog to poo in the gutter, if he did I wouldn't pick it up, but he poos on the pavement so I have to kneel down to get it. I only take him round the block and am knackered when I get back!

I second the annoying car parkers! Also how people just HAVE to comment from how big you're going to get to how you're life is basically going to be over!!! Also (now i've got started ) how my OH's mum has to dictate everything I decide to do/buy while my OH sits there with his gob shut! I'm only 20+3 weeks but if one more person blames everything i say and do on "hormones" i'm going to rip their head off!!!!!!!!

I hear you girls!!

I hate also people telling me how huge I am. No actually people telling me Im fat!

Also asking me every five minutes, 'are you alright'? And then when you say no, can you help me with this they don't want to.

People pushing their trolleys in to the back of your legs because you can't move any faster.

MIL who tells you that she knows what your having, what it looks like and everything about your baby, because she had a dream about it. Takes nothing about your family into consideration and tells you constintly that your little one is going to be a 'bastard' as a child because your DH was!

Oh and Also MIL, ignoring me for ages after I told her I was going to use reusuable nappies, and that I wouldnt let her use disposables on my baby when she looks after them. She pulled a right sulky face for ages like a child!

I fully appreciate the loo issue - it's a nightmare with a bump but add crutches into the equation and you're scuppered!

The same goes for the car issue. I had bad SPD during my last pg which is likely to happen again. I used to go to Tesco and if all the mother & child spaces were full I had made friends with the parkign attendants who would then allow me to park in a disabled space. V nice of them.

The other thing I hate is people asking me how things are going and wanting details etc then saying a minute later 'enough of the baby talk' like I'd brought it up and been yakking for ages! Nowadays I just say 'fine thanks' and change the subject!

Urgh people telling you how big you've gotten.. yes, thanks so much for informing me, as if I hadn't noticed myself..!! That's my biggest pet peeve at the moment!!

I hope your back ache gets better. I started getting really bad lower back ache around the same time (am 30 weeks now). I'm doing gentle muscle strengthening exercises twice a day and they seem to have really helped (been doing them for around 6 weeks now). Rather than constant back aches (day & night) I now have good days and bad days. You can Google specific exercises that are safe during pregnancy although it's always good to just run them past your GP/midwife too. Also get referred to a physio (and I hope the waiting list in your area isn't as long as mine! I think I'll get to see a physio when I'm close to my due date haha)

People saying things like "you shouldn't be carrying those books!" or "you shouldn't be going up and down all those stairs!" when I teach on the top floor and books don't levitate from one floor to another. Fair enough if they're offering to help, but no, it's just a way of sounding wonderful and concerned without actually doing anything about it. No wonder I'm still lugging class sets of books everywhere.

Pet peeves are inconsderate arseholes who can see that you are pregnant and still will walk into you, tell you that 'just because you are pregnant doesn't mean that you can't walk' - from a 60 year old, male co -worker who almost got a punch in the face, advice from people who know so little about pregnancy but still feel like an expert on the subject, the countless 'are you having twins' comment, MILs coming up with new potions for you to drink or eat claiming its a must do in pregnancy, (best one so far, drink warm milk with a lump of butter in it to lubricate the baby so it will simply slip out) and people not giving up their seats for you on buses or trains! (see thread on giving up seats for pregnant women'.

Argh!

I'm 29 weeks now and know I'm huge so don't need told 'ooh, you're getting big' or asked 'are you sure it's not twins?' every day.

Being constantly asked how I'm keeping, like I've had a long running illness. Boss checking I've got her mobile number whenever I'm left alone in the office in case I go into labour - I've got 10weeks left at work before maternity leave!

Struggling to get in and out of car, particularly in busy car parks. And through narrow doors at work. I think I'll be having baths instead of showers for the next three months too because our lovely new shower cubicle has a sliding glass door which is rather narrow now the bump has grown so big.

Worst at the moment is being told to 'get used to it' if I mention feeling tired. I may well find coping with a newborn tiring, but that doesn't stop me feeling shit now!

I was also a bit when step mother in law (who is the size of a house and never had children because she never wanted them and 'took on' DH as a teen only because he came with his dad) giving me advice on how to lose baby weight.

Back ache and lack of sleep due to back ache.

Oh, actually the worst is people touching me. Thinking because there's a baby in there that somehow means it's fine to touch/stroke/prod my belly. GET YOUR F-ING HANDS OFF ME!

Ah, feel much better now can go back to being excited about the imminent arrival if my boy!

Oh, and people seeing "wow, you can really see your bump now!" Yes, I know, the fact I just had to pack away 75% of my wardrobe was the first hint...
