Can't get an appointment with midwife???

Hi

I am due my 34 wk antenatal check-up in 10 days and can't get an appointment with my mid-wife?!

I realise that from 32 wks, antenatal appointments are now every fortnight until the end..and I currently alternate care between GP/Mid-wife at my local surgery.

I had my 32 wk appointment (I was 32+4 at the time) a couple of days ago at with my GP, and have now been told that all midwife appointments for the next 3 weeks are fully booked?!

What shall I do? Do I just miss my 34 wk check-up or do they HAVE to fit me in somehow??

You have to miss it unfortunately unless you happen to be high risk in which case they need to fit you in.

I had my 32 week check up at 32+5 and then my 34 week check up at 35+5 (3 weeks later) and they have been fortnightly since, so 37+5 and my next one is at 39+5. If there is anything of concern though contact your MW. You might also want to make your next 2 appointments together (2 weeks apart ofc) so that you know you have them sorted because she is obviously very busy.

I am not high risk, though baby is still breech. The only thing I am worried about is bloods? They normally test your bloods again at 34 weeks.

Do you think I can book in with my GP again, instead of midwife? After all won't she conduct the same tests, bp/urine etc...?

that could work. but make your next appointment asap with the midwife so you don't end up in the same situation again. You are lucky you have the choice to have some of your appointments with your GP - with me its MW or nothing.

My MW only comes to my surgery once every 2 weeks, for one day only. Its a pain. However I can book in to see her at one of the other surgerys she goes to, I have to call he one her mobile and find out where she will be then call and book in. Not sure if it works like that elsewhere bit it may be worth a try.

This is my 3rd so MW really doesn't want to see me much.
