scan at 12 weeks

hi everyone,

i had my scan today at what i thought was 12 weeks. they put me forward to 12 weeks 6 days so i'll be 13 weeks tomorrow!

the scan was really good, we couldn't believe it when we could see fingers and toes! my nuchal measurement is 1.3mm i don't know whether that is normal?

I'm really confused that they can put me 6 days ahead? we only started trying on xmas eve and my lmp was 16/12/10! could this be down just to diffence in speed of growth or to length of cycle or to when i ovulated? so confusing!

it doesn't really matter, just intrigued. has anyone else had similar happen when they were sure of their dates?

I am also certain of my dates, had my scan on Tuesday when I was by my dates 12+3 and they put me forward to 12+5 - so I am now 13 weeks today! I think they adjust it on the growth of the baby?

Your nuchal is fine - mine was 1.7 and that was bang on average (sonographer showed me a graph), so I think if anything yours is a bit better than average.

It is incredible what you can see at that stage!

My EDD with number 2 was changed about 3 times after scans, it was v annoying because I know what day we did the deed (the only time that month) so to me there shouldn't have been any debate at all but the MWs didn't see it like that!

My friend got hers adjusted by about a week recently and was quite surprised...in the end it doesn't make a lot of difference as they are full term by 37 weeks, which is 3 weeks before your EDD and can come any time between 37-42 weeks, which is a 5 week space and a really hard time to wait if you're at the 42week bit of it!!!

(of course they can come anytime, didn't mean it like that!)

Mine was massively adjusted.

MW gave me a due date of 20th August based in LMP but I told her I was having six weekly periods not four weekly and that based on my symptoms and my own hunches I thought I was actually due around 10th September (DHs birthday no less!). I had an early scan after some bleeding as I have a history of mc and they said I was 8+1 which gave me a due date of 21st September.

I went for my 12 week scan expecting to be 11+1 based on the early scan, I was actually 12+5 (now 13+4) and my due date is now 11th September - one day after what I said it should be.

With DS they gave me a due date of 10th July. I hadn't had a period that month but they didn't take it into account, I actually tested positive after my next period would have been due. At my 12 week scan there was just a blob, six weeks later they rescanned and I was 13 weeks and due 23rd August.

Yes I think its a cycle length thing and that (sorry for the TMI) but sperm can live for a few days.

My dates where changed as well and on the dates from the growth I would have been in a different country to DH and not seen him for 3 days

i'm glad i'm not the only one. it's nice to move on one week in two days!
