Brightly coloured cot sheets

Does anyone know where I can find some decent brightly coloured cot sheets/blankets?

Everything I've found so far is some really insipid variation on pastel pink/blue/cream/yellow. I'm thinking how about some primary colours or something, but damned if I can find anything. IKEA do some quite good stuff, but we've gone and bought a 90x40 crib, and they don't make anything in that size so they're out.

Or, actually, some funky prints would be fine, too. Anything to get away from the dreaded pastels.

I had the same problem ecuse. I ended up with a mix of IKEA, La Redoute (French catalogue) and eBay.

How about home dying or sewing?

I've been looking for the same! I've found some at Mothercare that at least have a pattern, but other than that: white or pastels.

chewytoffee has a good idea. You can buy a bunch of white ones and some fabric dye (they even sell it at a lot of Tescos) and make them any color or shade you want! If you've never done it before it's really easy, if it's a small amount of fabric you can dye in in a pot full of hot water. I would just give them an extra wash or two after they're dyed so you're sure it's all rinsed out.

chewytoffee dyeing is a good idea! Have never done it before, but sounds like a good maternity leave project...

dying would be really easy as well, I've done it before with various clothes, but plain cotton sheets would take it really well :)

Probably not what you want to hear but to be honest I think you're better off going with white.... New babies can't even see colours and once they do see colours they find them really stimulating. A lovely friend of mine decided that neutrals weren't for her and so decorated the nursery in lovely bright colours to be stimulating.

The problem was that they were stimulating and her DD still has sleep problems now aged 5 as, IMO, she has always found her bedroom to not be a relaxing place...

For similar reasons my DS had a white room with grey curtains and carpet. He wore coloured babygros during the day and white ones at night... Sleeps pretty much reliably from 8 to 7 most nights....

sorry, I agree with Knitter my DS slept best of all in his black coloured bugaboo. As soon as we noticed we stripped his cot of everything "exciting" as he slept much better.

If you are not bothered about having fitted sheets you could buy a nice brightly coloured double flat sheet, cut it in half and sew the edges.

Depends on the child (doesn't it always )

DS has white walls, bed and ceiling, but EVERYTHING else in his room is brightly coloured (sheets, trofast drawers, carpet, stripy rug, toys.. it's a VERY colourful room.

Just take away the ridiculous screaming rainbow mobile, and you'll be fine.

Jareth agree about the dark think... one of the other problems my friend had was that her (red/blue/green/yellow checked) curtains were really thin... I'd definitely recommend getting a black-out roller blind for your nursery window...

Also you can get a travel black-out blind with suction cups for putting over windows when you're away from home.... highly recommended
