Absolutely. We were decorating for most of my pregnancy.

The only thing I avoided was the paint stripper my DH used to restore the fireplace. Given it burnt through his protective gloves, this was probably a good idea.

I did too, crawling, I just made sure I didn't overdo it with the up-and-down roller action!

Oh - and make sure the room is really well ventilated

Happy decorating! (want to come do my kitchen? I'm too lazy Grin)

I painted and used low odour paint and wore one of those paper face mask thingies (mainly to shut everyone else up, as I was getting lot of comments that I shouldnt)

jasmine51 · 10/03/2011 18:00

I am planning major painting this weekend with low odour paint,a face mask and windows wide open. DH has thoughtfully appeared with a WW2 gas mask...I tihnk he's joking Hmm

Crawling · 10/03/2011 18:05

I am pleased to read this it means me and DH can paint the nursery without having to involve my FIL!Grin

solo · 10/03/2011 22:26

Oh yes! I wallpapered, painted, up and down the step ladder, did it all myself when 8 months pg with Ds. Grin

JBrd · 10/03/2011 22:57

I hope so! Still need to do the nursery and guest bedroom, as well as skirting boards and bannister. Although I definetly won't be going up any ladders anymore, my sense of balance has disappeared Grin

violetwellies · 11/03/2011 12:47

Blummin well hope painting is OK, Ive got nothing else on my to do list for 8 weeks of mat leave before EDD. (Theres plenty more should go on the list btw :) )

JimmyChoo17 · 12/03/2011 21:29

Really are we sure? Especially gloss paint!?ok ok I knew about wall paint to be honest...but...
I've been telling hubby it's a big no no so he will have to for once.....and I'm sticking to that story sssshhhhh!!! Wink

clarabella18 · 12/03/2011 22:49

Just make sure you take it easy! I've been stripping wallpaper fir the last 2 days am 30+3 and think I have pulled a muscle or something in the side of my bump.
Baby fine and squirming away as usual just a little more difficult than normal to bend over, sit down, get up etc.

jasmine51 · 13/03/2011 16:42

Just finished painting my skirtings..flippin difficult when you cant bend in the middle! re the gloss - gloss and egg shell are not ideal in pg because of the fumes, ideally stick to low odour emulsions or satinwoods. In a well ventilated room, light some candles at the end of the day, it helps to burn off some of the fumes.

clara I've just done the same - pulled something at the side of bump...prob caused by getting stuck on the floor too many times and having to haul myself up on the step ladder, so delicate!
