I have decided that we need one last get away / quality time together, just the 2 of us, before our first baby arrives in September.

Planning to go in June and will be 25 / 28 weeks pg depending excatly when we go.

We might get a cottage for a week.... or have a few days each in a couple of B&Bs.

Have never been to either place and want to go to them both.

Any votes? and do you reckon a self contained cottage will be better while pg OR a couple of B&Bs in slightly different areas?

(Will have the car so travel not a huge issue)

Ooooh - we had a fantastic few days in the Lakes when I was heavily pg with first dc. We stayed here and I can't wait to go back

Lake District, Lake District, Lake District!!!!
Can you tell I'm biased? I love it there.
Personally I'd go for a cottage because I like the privacy and DP is very good at making breakfast in bed, but either cottage or B&B sound lovely.
Have fun Smile

I'm from Northumberland originally and now live in Liverpool so go to the lakes a lot as me and my DH love walking. Both are beautiful, lakes is probably more spectactular scenery wise (said begrudging) but the coast in northumberland is beautiful and there are loads of lovely towns and villages and lots of history. Lakes is much more touristy, especiall in the summer. Favourite places in the lakes are; ambleside, grasmere, Windermere and I cannot remember the name of the place but there is a hotel there called the Inn on the Lake- it's famous so you could google it. Fav places in Northumberland are; alnwick, bamburgh, walkworth, rothbury, kielder, hadrians wall around corbridge.

Whatever you choose will be amazing! I recognise you from the waiting to ttc forum nannyl, hope you are well x

Go to Bamburgh beach, it's amazing no matter the weather. And Barter Books in Alnwick. And Warkworth is gorgeous... Was born in the Lakes and now live in Northumberland so I know both areas well. Frankly you can't go wrong, so it depends on whether you want beaches and castles or lakes and wooded valleys.

Sure you'll have fun either way!

Have a look at this Lake District Lodge Lots of short / long walks straight from your door. Beautiful accommodation with fantastic views. Its worth a look. I also love Northumberland and stayed at the Village. Choices choices.

Hope you enjoy your break.

I love both the Lake District and Northumberland. In June, Northumberland will be much quieter than the Lakes, which you might prefer at 28 weeks. The other benefit of Northumberland is if you had any complications, you would have access to the RVI which is great for fetal medicine. Very unlikely you'd need it, but I'm paranoid enough to take that sort of thing into consideration!

that Lodge looks lovely.... what a shame its booked for when we want to go

Mainlymaynie, Im paranoid like that too, something else to add into the equation
