Anyone else outgrown their maternity clothes?

Had to go out and buy a whole load of new clothes today, to fit over my bump - it's out of control. Has anyone else gone up yet another size towards the end? (I'm now 33 weeks). It's getting me down a bit.

I know, I know, weight gain is inevitable, but it's something I'm struggling with due to past issues. Just wondering whether this is normal, or if I've eaten a few too many pies...

The maternity jeans I bought earlier in my pregnancy are now feeling too tight and uncomfortable- am 32+5 at the mo...

My over-the-bump trousers are digging into my bump- ouch!, so I am now having to wear them rolled under instead..Shock I am measuring large for dates though as baby is still breech.

With only 7 weeks to go I am not gonna bother buying any new maternity clothes though- will just have to live in joggers for the next few weeks..

yes, I've resorted to buying a load of the long primark value tops that are meant to fit mid-thigh on someone not pregnant in a size or two bigger than I would normally wear. these are cheap and cheerful, they stretch well and actually look quite good.
I bought myself about 10 of them at 25 weeks, and I'm thinking these should definitely take me to full term now. I'm 34 weeks.

CaringForPod · 09/03/2011 19:51

I didn't want to buy any more, but am at work until 38 weeks and don't want to be indecent, showing off my belly to all and sundry! Joggers are the one thing I don't have, however...

Ivy - my local Primark only do those kind of tops in a vest style (traipsed round there yesterday). I want t-shirts or long sleeve. I've got one I managed to get from there before they stopped doing them. At least New Look had a sale on today!

not this time - but last time I remember going to the hospital in labour in one of DH's gigantic t-shirts, a hoodie that wouldn't do up and the most hideous enormous grey tracksuit bottoms. Christ knows what I'd've done if it had been another few days, I literally had nothing else left that fit!

CaringForPod · 09/03/2011 20:07

HaHa Flootshoot! Nice to know I'm not alone Smile. Sadly my husband has the physique of a beanpole - I could only just fit into his clothes pre-pregnancy (not that I made a habit of it!), so no chance now! That doesn't help either.

Thanks again everyone - makes me feel better knowing that I'm not some sort of freak.

One of my maternity jeans doesn't fit anymore, and I've started wearing bump bands on a regular basis now to cover the gaps between some of my tops and trousers. And I still have 9 weeks left...sigh.

CaringForPod · 09/03/2011 20:11

Oh, bump bands, that would have been a good idea. Oops.

Last 6-8 weeks of pregnancy I seemed to just PILE on weight!! I was actually eating less because of the horrendous heartburn but still the weight seemed to just magically creep on and I got loads of stretch marks and had to buy some new MASSIVE maternity stuff for the last 6 weeks!!

And like you my DH is tall and skinny so his clothes were not much good to me! Oh well, don't worry, when your LO arrives you'll lose it quicker than you think :)

Leilababyno1 · 09/03/2011 23:16

Ha! My DH is also a skinny minny, think his hips are the size of one of my thighs at the moment..Wink

Bump bands are definitely worth getting though- they are cheap and come in very handy during the last few weeks of pregnancy! Saves buying new tops! Wearing mine all the time at the moment..

oggybags · 10/03/2011 07:11

I split the fabric on the thighs of my sz 12 topshop mat jeans Blush thet were under bump ones and at 32 weeks just started digging in and gave up- bought a pair sz 16 and they're fab- was worried if I didn't I'd have nowt for after!!

naitimum · 10/03/2011 13:54

Yes I have grown out of some of the clothes that I wore to full term with my first child and I still have five and a half weeks to go. This doesn't seem like enough time for me to fork out on any new clothes so am just managing by basically looking quite scruffy and showing quite a lot of builder's bum prbably!

Allatsea1 · 10/03/2011 16:50

Yes :( my favourite maternity jeans have now bitten the dust!

CaringForPod · 11/03/2011 10:33

Great to know that I'm not on my own here - although I sympathise with all of you in the same boat. Basically feeling like a heffalump at the moment. Still doing a reasonable amount of exercise and not eating excessively, but the weight just keeps on coming!

Wish I'd thought of bump bands now, but it is nice having clothes that fit, even if it is just for the last 7 weeks.

Lots of maternity stuff can be taken "out" a bit if you know a handy sewing person.

Just said a fond farewell to my skinny maternity jeans though, some things weren't meant to be.
