Thrush

Hi

I'm 16 weeks and have had thrush like symptoms for 3 weeks. I went to the doctor who gave two does of pessary and cream. I have used both and nothing had changed. I mentioned this when I saw the midwife for a check up today and she just told me to get a repeat prescription.

I'm just a bit fed up as it doesn't feel like I'm being taken seriously. Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks Smile

Hi tezbean,

Ive had thrush regularly in my pregnancy too. I would make another appointment with the GP rather than just getting a repeat prescription. It can sometimes take a few weeks for thrush to clear.

I sometimes think eating natural yogurt can help?

Take care xxxx

You can get stronger stuff than the thrush cream. I have a history of persistent thrush so along with a pessary was prescribed a mild steroid cream which seems to have worked, and I was offered stronger stuff if it didn't. You have to push a bit though, or get lucky with your GP. I managed to achieve scarring pre-pregnancy so was taken seriously from the off.

My only problem now is pelvic pain. Hot baths help hugely but lots of them tend to lead to... you guessed it. I have my fingers crossed that nature will be kind.

Thanks both. I've called the surgery and having a phone consultation tomorrow.

StiffyByng I know exactly what you mean about pain and hot baths. Not fair is it!
