Worried about bleeding.

I am 17.2 weeks and had some bleeding at 15 weeks, called EPU who scanned me and all was well with the baby, they couldn't see where the bleeding was coming from and it stopped after a couple of days.

I had some blood on saturday, just when wiping so wasn't too worried, last night when I went to the loo there was quite a lot of bright red blood, not pouring out but had to wipe a few times and now it is just faint when wiping. Have called EPU who say that as I am not gushing or having to change pads frequently and unless it gets a lot worse then not to worry.

I can't help but worry as I had a mc last year. Just wanting to hear from others who have had bleeding through pg and all was well.

So sorry to hear this is happening to you, its so worrying isnt it. I am 26 wks and have had several bleeds, brown blood, red blood, big blood, little blood. Every time I get checked out all they can tell me is that everything looks fine...but it doesnt exactly explain where the blood is coming from does it? I was told at about your stage that my low placed placenta was 'migrating' which gave me all sorts of visions of an alien being crawling around my uterus but placentas can move and this can cause some bleeding at the edges. I also had a weekend of lifting stuff and had a bleed shortly afterwards..then there's a little bit of sex, that can cause bleeds - do any of these sound like you?
Have they checked your cervix to see if its got some erosion on it?
Keep an eye on it like you are, but stressful as it is, I'm sure everything will be ok - take it easy x

Can you call your midwife and talk it through with her? EPU don't souns particularly sympathetic and I would be worried in this situation.

This seems to be a common response from EPUs and GPs - I'm earlier than you but similar symptoms, and when I call, I get told not to worry, but they are offering me a second early scan thursday to reassure me...keep ringing and trying as different staff are more sympathetic. I guess you've got to think that they see and hear about so much of this (wish I knew that this could happen in pregnancy -no-one tells you!), and so if they're not concerned that's a good thing! I completely understand how scary it is - but hopefully like me, you'll get some reassurance from how surprisingly common it is and that many women seem to go on to have successful pregnancies. I've got everything crossed for you!

I too had some bleeding at around 16 weeks - taken in for tests/scan and all was fine. Continued to bleed for a week after but when I rang MAU, they said as long as it wasn't painful or heavy to ignore it. When I went for 20 week scan they said there was a haematoma (sp?) in my placenta and my placenta was covering my cervix, so this most likely caused the bleed. Hopefully 20 week scan will give you some answers - til then try not to worry. It's a lot more common than you'd think.
