Anyone tested positive with HPTs and then asked to retest in a week by doctor?

Hello all,

First post on this board, but long time lurker

I got positive results from boots, and 1-2 weeks from clearblue, and faint positives from cheapy ebay tests over a week ago on the Sunday.

I then was asked by the doctors surgery to hand in a urine test- which I did on the tuesday morning. Have just received a letter back from the docs to say they want to retest me in a week. That doesn't sound good to me. I did a clearblue on the thursday though and it had moved on to 2-3 weeks.

I'm already thinking about excuses to explain away a weaker result at the doctors, had drank litres of water the day before, it was done at 5.20am so practically during the night, it was still early as only 3 days after period due etc but should I just face facts and be as worried as I feel I could let myself become?

I still have no period, no sign of one and have pregnancy like symptoms.

Anyone have any similar experiences or advice?

Another Lurker here! I have heard (but don't quote me on this one) that HPTs, especially clear blue, test at a lower amount of hCG than a Doctors' test. I think mainly cos it would be too expensive to spend so much money on so many women.

So it may be that in a weeks time you will have enough hCG to come up on the doc's test?

Try not to worry until next week, its still early days :)

Have had a look on the internet - they say to not drink too much water before a pregnancy test because it can dilute urine and make hCG less detectable. SOoo I'm sure its fine :)

I had the exact same experience when I was pregnant with dd3! My poundland cheapies were telling me I was pregnant but the Dr's surgery results were inconclusive. I retested after 3 or 4 days for them and it was positive, she is now 3 :)

That's reassuring guys, appreciate your posts. I'll try to stop panicking. :)
