I'm 38 +3 and for the last few days have been getting a few little twinges around my pelvis, some (not many) are quite painful (a bit like period pain). I also feel a bit like I'm 'due on'.

Just curious as to what signs people got which meant labour was imminent??

I'm sure I'm just looking for things and will probably be late but would be interesting to compare.

ooh, might be it! i had mild contractions every 20-60 mins for 2 days (and nights) before my waters broke and 'proper' labour started. i was 38+3 when i gave birth so good luck! i recommend lots of walking to give things a nudge Smile

LittleWhiteWolf · 06/03/2011 17:13

I had nothing out of the ordinary--but then I felt braxton hicks all throughout my pregnancy. My first sign was my waters breaking a few hours after my sweep and that was it.

Could mean labour is imminent or it could mean its still a way off. It will happen when it happens, sorry!

I always feel.....crappy!

Its the only way to describe it!

You know how you feel when you are ill? When you cant settle to anything, everyone is gettting on your nerves and when you lie down you want to get up but when you are up you want to lie down? Kind of like that. And i am as grumpy as hell and feel really insecure and worried but I dont know what about. I also get quite tearful.

Physically it was like the lead up to a period, I could feel something was coming but didnt know when it would come iykwim!

nightshade · 06/03/2011 19:24

none. until i actually started having period cramps followed by contractions followed by show.

Imnotaslimjim · 06/03/2011 19:27

Bogeyface has described it perfectly. I was very unsettled in the couple of days leading up to labour started, I felt like I was going crazy!

cockle84 · 06/03/2011 21:14

That's interesting bogeyface, I'm feeling a bit like that. I'll just have to wait and see what happens.

None whatsoever here either. I was blissfully ignorant and DH and I were booking cinema tickets for that evening when I had a show and it was all go from there.

Scouseem · 06/03/2011 22:22

Yep agree with every word bogeyface said. My mum knew I was gonna go into labour with DC1 because she said I just couldn't settle and I was same with DC2.

preggos · 07/03/2011 09:56

i've had proper contractions for the past 2 weeks and last night was having strong contractions 3 mins apart for 5 hours. midwife came to check me and nothing had changed since i was checked days before. eventually contractions stopped. I personally would try not to think about it, concentrate on something else or will get as depressed as me and its not fun.

humanfraggle · 07/03/2011 12:25

Absolutely NOTHING! I had no Braxton Hicks, didn't feel crappy, didn't get the apparently 'normal' pre-labour diahorrea, no period-like pain or cramping... NOTHING!

Woke up having contractions at 1am one day, at 11 days overdue. Still came as a suprise Grin

messylittlemonkey · 07/03/2011 12:51

With DD1 my first sign was feeling a bit twingy during the night (I was about 39+2 I think), then I had a show the following morning and my waters broke.

With DD2, I was having stronger nd stronger Braxton Hicks for weeks before she was born. Two days before she arrived (again around 39 weeks) I went into town and felt really achey and tired and just wanted to get home. Called DP to say that I thought something was happening. Got more and more twinges and had show the following morning. Waters broke about 12 hours later.

So with both DDs I had a show followed by waters breaking, but was def more obvious with DD2.

messylittlemonkey · 07/03/2011 12:52

Good luck by the way!

orangehead · 07/03/2011 13:01

ds1 lots of braxton hicks the day before (I now actually think it had already started then). Rang then hubby at work in late afternoon to tell him I was having baby that night, he just laughed, but I just knew dont know why. Put the phone down and went straight out for a very brisk walk, looked like a mad woman on a mission, but had to keep stopping for 'braxton hicks'. Got home had dull backache and tummy ache a bit peroid likethen waters broke at 2 in the morning.
Ds2 I couldnt stop crying a few hours before contractions started thought at time it was because said husband had left a few days before. But it was absolute uncontrollable crying that went on for about 4 hours so I think hormones def involved too.

Lulumama · 07/03/2011 13:02

DS I was induced and don't really remember any lead up anyway i was 39 +1

DD my waters leaked and i wnet to be checked, nothing doing, snet home, woke up in labour

flootshoot · 07/03/2011 15:10

Didn't notice anything with DS - however am now 37 + 3 and have the same feeling of not being able to settle. I've spent the last fortnight madly cleaning, knitting and sorting stuff out (numerous charity shop trips), but today I just can't settle to do anything.

I been having pains in my cervix too - hard nudging pains and pressure. Have ELCS booked for 10 days time but I'm hoping something happens before then!!

sh77 · 07/03/2011 17:34

Am 38+1. For the past 3 days, I have started getting dull period-like pains. Lower back ache has also started. Also felt like cervix was opening up over past 2 days! C-sec this Wed - hope baby hangs in there!
