Prawns in m-r sauce are fine - they are cooked!

BubbaShrimpy · 05/03/2011 16:36

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm thanks. I think it was the shop bought element that I was doubting. But Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm anyway.

I'm quite sure its too late but I was about to say no....MWs vary in their advice but those were on my 'no list' given to me by my MW. Wouldnt stop me though...could murder an industrial sized tub right now!

BubbaShrimpy · 05/03/2011 16:51

Oops. I'll pretend I didn't read that! Or eat them! One or the other - I'm sure it'll be fine either way!

Cooked shellfish are fine. Prawns in marie rose sauce are cooked.

owlbooty · 05/03/2011 17:20

Why are they so delicious? Why?????

lolajane2009 · 05/03/2011 17:21

prawns are fine. my midwife said yes and the book i have from nhs says yes

PipPipPip · 05/03/2011 20:48

I would. But I'd probably eat wood shavings or cat food if hungry enough.

doodledee · 05/03/2011 21:46

I've craved prawns both pregnancies and eat eat eat them! I do make sure they're from somewhere like M&S rather than a sandwich from the corner shop

Stangirl · 06/03/2011 06:33

want some. now.

PermaShattered · 06/03/2011 19:54

Prawns, I'm afraid, are one of my biggest vices!! Don't take too much notice of scaremongering about prawns. So long as you can be pretty sure that their origin is ok (M&S would cause me no issues)then you'll be fine.

I eat prawns very regularly cos I love them SO much. BTW I'm 38wks preg and never stopped eating prawns in any of my 4 pregnancies. But I'm not totally blase before I get accused of putting my baby at risk!! Eg, if we eat out at at lovely Chinese buffet place we like I avoid the prawns. It's all a matter of common sense....

FoxyRevenger · 06/03/2011 20:26

I ate prawn sandwiches from Tesco about 3 times a week throughout my pregnancy. The way I saw it, I had been eating prawns approximately 100 times a year for the past decade or so without getting food poisoning, so the likelihood of getting it then wasn't huge.

I couldn't live without prawns Grin

NurseSunshine · 06/03/2011 21:11

I'm pg and stay away from prawns unless I've cooked them myself. I probably wouldn't be as strict but I got food posioning from cooked prawns a while ago and would NOT like to repeat the experience whilst pregnant!

ruddynorah · 06/03/2011 21:16

yes they're fine.

lolajane2009 · 06/03/2011 21:17

My current craving is sushi so if i couldnt eat prawns and salmon i would be in trouble.

daimbardiva · 07/03/2011 10:05

Seafood is fine so long as it's cooked, in date and from a reputable source. M&S is reputable to me!
