Pregnant day of ovulation

Hi, wasn't sure whether to put this here or under 'conception'...

I had read that to try for a boy you should bd as near to your ovulation date as possible, and if for a girl you should stop bd'ing a few days before ovulation, cos girl sperm are slower and last longer and boy sperm are speedy and short lived.

So my question to you is, do you think this is accurate? I am 39wks pg (2nd pg) and I'm dying to know what the sex is of the baby and have been enjoying guessing the last few weeks through other threads on MN. For this pg it was pretty much the day of ovulation or I ov'd the next day after bd, and no previous bd before that day, same with my first pg which resulted in ds. Do you think the chances of having a girl are completely out of the question? How many of you know you bd'd exactly on ov day and had a girl (with no attempts earlier in the week)?

No answer I'm afraid but I'm in a similar situation.....think ours is a boy (if all the stuff you said is true, about doing it on ov day and not before). Guess we will ujust have to wait and see eh?!

It's never "out of the question" it's just that the odds are tipped one way otr the other.

It's funny, we had to go for a growth scan on tuesday and dh said 'shall we ask what the sex is' and I said 'no way, we've just waited 38/40wks I'm not going to find out with just two to go!!'

I tried hard for a girl this method and DS4 should've been a girl by all accounts. It's a good job he's so fabulous.

its weird cos even if u did it on ov day oyu may not have conecieved on that day iykwim..I am on my second and i know we did it on day before ov, ov and couple of days after to ensure..lol Think i am having another boy but will find out in 8 wks..lol

Well, I only have a sample of one but definitely conceived on my ovulation day .. and he's a boy.

I am pretty darn certain I conceived on my ovulation day - according to my persona device - and didn't do it earlier in the week.

I had a girl.

99redballoons, I went for a growth scan with DS2, not knowing the sex and not intending to find out, when a clear view right between the legs came up on screen. Even to my untrained eye it was bleeding obvious!

All my three were conceived on the day of ovulation... 3 boys.

Apparently you need to stop 4 days bf ovulation for the girl... male sperm can live that long

i concieved two boys at time of ovalation then I heard of this method so the third time i thought o.k worth a try so we tryed before ovalation and we got a girl.

I heard that is is true, the female sperm live longer, male sperm are fast but die quicker.

It worked exactly that way for me - i have a DD and a DS. Whether that is just coincidence or not though..........?

With DD I conceived on ovulation day. With this beanie I definitely did too with no trying at all beforehand. I HOPE its another dd, but the evidence of this doesnt look good. I've got 7 weeks till my 20 week scan I'll know then.

Thanks all for the stories... I know the odds are for another boy, so will let you know if it's not. It would be good to hear from the others with only a few weeks to go!

I think it's all a load of nonsense, sorry.

I had sex either the day of, or day before ovulation (confirmed with OPKs and tracking BBT) the month I got pregnant and had sex on no other days a week either side.

I'm expecting a girl so in my experience the result doesn't back up the theory, though lack of correlation doesn't prove there's no causation.

I would take all theories like this with a very liberal pinch of salt though.
