Big for dates/too much amniotic fluid - should I be worried?

I'm 27 weeks pregnant and measuring 31 weeks. The midwife says its seems as though I'm carrying a lot of fluid and therefore I'm booked in for a scan and appointment with the consultant next week. I felt quite calm about it when I left the clinic but now I'm home I'm fretting a little.

Does anyone have any experience of this?

Incidentally the baby is also breech and positioned "unusually high" although I don't think there is any relevance in that.

Many thanks.

I had this too. At 29 weeks I started contracting and had to go to the labour ward. I was ENORMOUS. Midwife measured me and I was measuring at 34cms. She arranged for me to have another scan and possible redating which I did but they stuck by their dates. I too carried lots of water. Ds was born at 37 weeks 8lb12oz
