stabbing, burning pain

Hi

I'm 28 weeks and for the last few days have had, what I can only describe as a stabbing, burning pain just under my bump, just above my pubes on one side. I asked my midwife and she said she didn't know, maybe a ligament stretching but it feels really sore, and burns like someone's sticking me with a red hot poker from the inside. It's quite a small area of pain and comes and goes but is really quite uncomfortable when I get it (various times a day).

Any ideas? anyone else being stabbed in the bump by red hot pokers?

thanks

Could it be wind ?

no, nothing like wind.

oh my - am feeling your pain pipoca (quite literally).

i'm 30 weeks and have had this for about a week. really painful to walk, and especially when i get up after being sat down for a while.

done a bit of googling (i know, i know) and i've come to the conclusion it might be SPD. i've been doing the things it's suggested (sleeping with a pillow between my knees, keeping my legs together when i stand up / sit down / get out of the car etc) and it seems to be a bit more manageable. says to avoid swimming though, which i'm a bit gutted about.

i'd be interested to hear anyone else's thoughts on this. i'm seeing the midwife on thursday, so thought i'd have a chat about this then, otherwise it's self-diagnosis for me....!

good luck, and here's hoping it's a phase that will pass in a week or so... x

It does sound like an SPD pain to me. Thats how it started for me, but at 10 weeks. By your stage I was housebound. Do as Sue has, and have a google for some self-help to ease it, and have a chat with your MW when you next see her. There is also a similar one called pelvic girdle pain, which is a similar thing but higher up, so have a look into that too. Hope it eases soon

so, does this sound like spd to anyone else. it-s really really sore at the mo, like a cigarette burn from the inside, but now stretching horizontally across the bottom of the bump. I-m quite often doing nothing when it comes on.

sorry, no idea if it's SPD or not, but just joining the thread as I've had an occasional burning-type pain, the last few days, but mine is more in my groin than under my bump...

suede when I had back/hip problems during my last pg the maternity physio suggested I put a carrier bag on my car seat - it made swiveling around in the seat when I got in a million times easier! Grin

After some seriously intensive googling I have self diagnosed and it seems my midwife was right and the most likely cause is "round ligament pain" just in case anyone else is suffering the same.
