Ugh! Any advice - this is getting chronic. I've tried absolutely everything (figs, apricots, lactulose on it's own, lactulose & Fybogel (twice a day for a week), Senokot) with not a lot of luck (sorry if that's too graphic)!

Anyway, needless to say I'm feeling pretty uncomfortable and don't know what to try next. Have read previous threads on the subject but think I might need something more heavy duty. With previous pregnancy 2 x Kiwi fruit each day with the skin on used to help but now the skin just gives me mouth ulcers!

Thanks

Ooooh Millie1 you do have my sympathies. Not much advice I'm afraid, lactulose and apricots worked for me.
Are you on iron supplements, if so maybe a different brand is required. Don't suffer see you GP

Millie1 · 14/09/2003 20:34

Thanks Angelmother ... I'm trying to avoid my GP but drastic action may be called for! I'm not taking iron (or anything else for that matter) - have been avoiding it like the plague!

how many weeks are you? I had severe symptoms like you described earlier on & I also tried everything & after a few weeks of suffering it cleared up & I've not had it since, even now I'm taking iron supplements. I'd say just try as much water as you can stomach, maybe an alcohol free lager or 2 & patience. It's no fun tho, I know.

I'm lucky enough not to suffer from this but I know prune juice is excellent for it. It is very effective, so much so that you have to be careful how much you drink as it will only cause problems opposite to what you've already got.....IYKWIM

Thanks everyone. Went to the chemist today and came home armed with Ducolac (?sp) and glycerine supps ... and instructions to keep up the Fybogel & Lactulose at the same time. OMG ... lots of fun for me!!

Monkey ... I'm 28w and have had it on and off since the beginning (and before). Oh well, only around 12w more to suffer!

poor thing. I was desperate with mine - thank God it just sorted itself out. have you tried linseeds in yoghurt (or whatever else) ? I found that very helpful & not unpleasant.
