Hi ladies, i have been having a nose bleed for 50 mins now. Big clots coming out and it still keeps coming and is now getting in my mouth and making me cough it up. Sorry TMI!

i know nose bleeds in pg are common but i was only discharged from hospital yesterday and i'm on anti biotics and steroids, and i'm wondering if this could be contributing to such a bad one? (sat typing this with a bloody tissue stuffed up her nose......) Blush

AFAIK nasal steroids (eg brown inhaler beclomethasone) are associated with nose bleeds but not oral steroids such as prednisolone (known as prednisone in the US).

Antibiotics can inhibit the absorption of vitamin K and this can cause nose bleeds. I don't believe its a common sdde effect though.

Try reading the patient information leaflets in your drug packets or speaking to a pharmacist if you keep having a problem.

To stop the bleeding now run a flannel under cold water and press that against your nose. The cold narrows the blood vessels and reduces bleeding.

try sucking an ice cube too, it helps the blood vessels close.

i used to have nosebleeds like that, horrible! had to have my nose cauterized in the end a few times (this was years ago though).

If it still is as much after cold compress/sucking ice cubes it might be an idea to go to the hospital x
