I am due mid May, so currently am 30 weeks and have got most of my stuff already, just need baby monitor and mattress for crib and a bit of bedding. I have been off work for a while on sick leave due to complications in pregnancy so I have had time on my hands to do it.

Have also semi packed my hospital bag and done my birth plan. I am normally very disorganised so I have even impressed myself with my new found skills!

When are you due Sum04?

sum04 · 03/03/2011 19:55

I am not due till the 31st of May, but my cervical stich is being taken out at the start of May, so i will be going straight into Labour once the stich is removed, as i did with my son.
So got 8 1/2 weeks left.
Just wondering if i should start now, as my daughter was 10 1/2 weeks early.

Im 30+4, due may 9th and have pretty much got everything ready for LO in terms of buying things, although nothing else ready yet (washing everything, cot not up etc)

Not got anything sorted for hospital bag yet but been looking at the threads for this and will start buying bits over the next few weeks.

I would def start now to give youself a few weeks as if you are anything like me you will keep remembering extra bits you want/need. Especially if you think you will go into labour early!!

Have fun spending!!!

cowboylover · 03/03/2011 20:22

I am due 15th May and only ordered a pushchair and moses basket.

Been given a swing crib and got some clothes in the sales in January so I just starting to write a list of what we need to get before she arrives, this is my first so I dont know where to start.

I start maternity leave in 2 weeks so I am looing forward to some shopping time then Smile

Leilababyno1 · 03/03/2011 20:34

I am due on 30th April- so not May technically but almost..Smile

I've got pretty much everything for the baby, though it's not been sorted through yet and lots of things still in bagsConfused..

Went out at this weekend to buy some hospital bag items- headed to Boots and was completely overwhelmed by the amount/choice of all things birth related! DH had to fan me down, felt like I was gonna have a panic attack- can you tell it's my first??!!

A very sweet lady with baby in buggy came up to me, whilst I was hopelessly staring down the breast pad aisle, to ask if I needed adviceBlush!! AND no she didn't work there- thinking about it now, it was quite funny..Grin

Think the reality is really setting in that there isn't that long to go now..Shock

Queenofthehill · 03/03/2011 20:35

I have to move house first. Two and a half weeks' time. Argh! Having to curb much of my baby-buying enthusiasm until have got this hurdle out of the way.
Due 19 May.
And breathe.
Grin

We only have a pram, a baby bounce-type chair and a bath bucket so far, as well as tons of baby clothes - all either standing in the dining room or stacked away in the loft. Our lodger doesn't move out until March 26, and before that I can't get started on the nursery! Getting slightly anxious about it all... Still lots to get, but DH doesn't want to because he says we have nowhere to put it.

But I will start getting my hospital bag organised this weekend I think, otherwise I'll go mad!

Marabou · 03/03/2011 21:33

I only have loads of clothes, a pram, a bottle steriliser and some bedding.

I've made a list of everything that came to mind and the bigger things left to buy are a cot, a mattress and a moses basket. Also must buy a nappy disposal system, a changing table, muslin squares, a sling, a baby bath.. at least.. Uuugh, getting slightly panicky Confused...

thornykate · 03/03/2011 21:57

I bought 1 sleepsuit and used the token in the bounty pack to get a packet of newborn nappies Blush

I have until end of May though (edd26th)

clarabella18 · 03/03/2011 22:01

Have still got car seat, Moses basket, bouncy chair and bedding from DS. My mum gave me the cot she had in her loft and got a new mattress. Got a steriliser and bottles. 1 pack of nappies an wipes and a few vests and sleepsuits and that's it. Not even thought about my hospital bag or bought the pram (have picked out which one I want though).

I keep telling myself I've still got ages to go yet but in reality it's only 11 weeks!

pissovski · 03/03/2011 22:01

I am due on 4th May and have only recently started to buy much. I did start buying clothes in the Jan sales and think i am sorted (well with newborn and 0 - 3 anyway). Have bought some towels, muslins and 2 little teddies. Supermarkets are eating my money!

We had illness and bereavement in the very close family (FIL) and so mind not really on the forthcoming event IYSWIM

In the last week, we have bought a pram, moses basket, bouncer, bath support and play gym - so we are getting there!!

lilly13 · 03/03/2011 22:02

I bought lots of baby clothes via internet in USA (only because they were at bargain prices and DH was going there)... Nothing else so far. Plan to start shopping at the end of March...

Marabou · 03/03/2011 22:04

Where I'm from originally all pregnant women receive a free pack with baby essentials for the first 2-3 months (mainly clothes, bath things, nappies etc.). I just took a look at the pictures of this year's pack and came up with loads of more things to buy.. I wish they did the pack in the UK too!

Perpetuallypregnant · 03/03/2011 23:21

Baby due 6th may and I have purchased 1 babygro Blush

But

I have a 9 month old dd and know I'm having another dd. I pretty much have everything apart from a double pushchair anyway. And it's all in the right season as she was born last may :)

I need a few maternity bits and pieces but that's it really.

clouiseg · 03/03/2011 23:41

Have everything apart from the crib which DH picks up tomorrow! All new baby clothes are washed & ironed ready...hospital bag has everything in, just needs organising!!

I'm more worried about doing overnight bags for my 3 dds who will need to go to MILS if anything happens!

Am due 12th May but just know if Im too casual about it SOMETHING will happen Grin

Time is going so quickly ladies!! Exciting!!

Justtrying · 04/03/2011 08:42

Have some baby clothes and lots of cloth nappies and bedding, cot and pram are cluttering up my mum's front room. My office looks like a bomb site, but i've started washing things and will be de-cluttering spare room in the next couple of weeks, wallpaper bought just need to get DH moving on the decorating.
We're away this weekend for a chill-out after a recent breavement and the stress involved in family difficulties. So the plan is to sort out hospital bag next week and start getting things organised. DH can't see the rush saying it will all be done, but I like to be prepared.

As an aside has any one started their maternity/parenting classes yet i'm 29 weeks and not heard a thing yet, will ask the midwife next week.

Must go, i'm collecting my new family friendly car and giving my mx5 in part ex.

Deciduousblonde · 04/03/2011 09:17

I am due 6th May and have everything but the pram to be delivered.

Pretty good job too as they plan to induce me on 21st April, and my last baby was born at 35 weeks..so I may only have 4 weeks to go!

BlingLoving · 04/03/2011 09:24

I'm due at the end of May. We have bought the pram and car seat and crib (although we are waiting for it all to still be delivered).

I've also been given a lot of clothes and things which are just sitting in the spare room. I also have got promises of lots of other things from friends and family so don't have it yet, but know that it's coming and that I don't have to buy it.

I am being thrown a baby shower in April so kind of waiting until after that before doing much more. Also have to wait for the baby's room to be fixed so that it's livable before we can decorate but that's happening next week. yay!

JBrd · 04/03/2011 10:05

Justtrying-my DH is the same, having a very relaxed and layed-back attitude to getting baby things. It's driving me up the wall. Yes, I'm due on the 9th May, but I could be early, something that he doesn't seem to acknowledge... I keep telling him anything is possible from 36 weeks onwards, but I don't think he believes me!

Baby has nowhere to sleep at the moment, and neither do we have a car seat Sad, and whenever I say that we should get this and that, his answer is that we don't have anywhere to put it yet and it'll just be more bulk and boxes standing around! Which I don't mind, our house is a tip anyway.

Will try and push this weekend, so that we can at least order the baby hammock...

violetwellies · 04/03/2011 10:20

Due 25th May, Have spent my free Bounty token on newborn nappies :) and been promised lots of stuff, but bought NOTHING, nor have I even thought about packing anything :)

stegasaurus · 04/03/2011 15:46

I'm due 1st May, and still have so much to sort and get. The nursery isn't even started as DH has to finish boarding the attic first so we get the boxes of stuff out of the spare rooms. Every week he tells me the attic will be done that week, but I won't be surprised if the baby is born before the nursery is done. He doesn't see buying or sorting baby things as a priority at all. We have a pram but no car seat. We have a Moses basket and someone has given my mum a second-hand cot. We have bags of clothes that my niece has grown out of and some other bits and pieces. I am trying not to panic but time is rushing by and there still seems to be so much to do.

GrumpyFish · 04/03/2011 16:08

I am due at the end of April (32 weeks now) and have done absolutely nothing! Still, this is DC2 and we still have most things from last time, so how much can there be to do?! I think I'm a bit in denial, no doubt I will still be this disorganised a month from now and it will all be a last minute panic (manly for DH as by that time I will be too large and exhausted to trail round the shops) Grin.

greenzebra · 04/03/2011 16:48

Im due 22nd May and we have nearly everything. Just a mattress and a kit of reusualbe nappies to go. Alot of our stuff id being made or has been made by the grandmothers.
My DH is the one that drags me out every weekend to buy more stuff! I think I would have waited a bit longer but hey ho at least hes keen.

StormInaCCup · 04/03/2011 18:03

Congrats on doing so well with the stitch Sum04 , I think we have spoken on another thread. I nearly had a stitch put in but have been monitored weekly instead as I have next to no cervix but (thankfully) lots of scar tissue keeping what's left tightly closed.

I was warned from the beginning that I am at risk of premature birth and I have almost everything ready now at 26 weeks just in case my little one decides to make a break for freedom. So far he appears to be cosy and happy in there and I am hoping he sticks it out until the date of my planned c-sec on 3rd June.

This is our first baby so we needed to buy everything, although was quite lucky that my SIL had a little boy 3 months ago and has given me lots of nearly new clothes - it has saved us a fortune.

We have bought: clothes, nursery furniture (cotbed, drawers/changing unit, wardrobe), curtains, rug and nappystacker, bugaboo bee plus pram with bee nest and footmuff, car seat and base, cot mobile, bath support and towels, play gym, nappy bin, baby toiletries and towels, moses basket and rocking stand, rocker, blankets and bedding, toys, nappies and wipes, a breast pump and bottles, bumbo seat (a gift), room thermometer, baby monitor and other bits and pieces.

I feel much better now that we have everything we need - but to be totally honest with you I will admit that I have been dealing with the stress of a very difficult and high risk pregnancy by nesting like crazy. I am sure my husband is relieved now that we have made it past the magic 24 week point and I am starting to relax a bit. Smile

busybee20 · 04/03/2011 19:09

Due first week of May. Have bought babygrows and vests, maternity pads, breast pads, and a baby changing unit. Oh also got a good deal on Avent bottles and steriliser at mothercare (though will try to BF at first) Need to buy a moses basket, nappies, towels for baby and me. And will also need to stock up on lots and lots of underwear LOL.
Will try to finish shopping this weekend as am getting extremely tired and baby feels like its about to burst out of me!!
