Feel really sad

I am currently 10/11 weeks pregnant. This is my third pregnancy - I had a MMC in 2008 at 8 weeks and then had my daughter 14months ago. The pregnancy was a bit of a suprise but we have now got used to the idea and were just starting to look forward to it. My dating scan is next Wednesday.

Last night I had some slight spotting of red blood, which completely freaked me out - very similar to my MMC in 2008. This morning I phoned my EPU and midwife. The EPU were very nice but cannot fit me in for a scan until next week, my midwife too was fab and she also phoned the EPU who said the same to her.

I am going crazy. I have to wait until my dating scan and then will be in a room with other expectant mothers and sort of expect to get bad news. I have been told to take things easy, so will be off work today and tomorrow (but will probably go back on Monday - will go mental by then).

Can anyone give me any good news stories? Feeling really sad. :(

Brass I totally understand your anxiety and frustration at not knowing. Red blood spotting does not always mean a MC, please dont give up hope. Around 11 wks the placenta is getting established and that can lead to spotting - which I had too. You are doing exactly the right thing by resting. re sitting with expectant mothers - most scanning depts are sensitive to this and have an area elsewhere you can sit in but it happened to me twice and its a horrible horrible thing to see bumps and smiling faces everywhere.
Suggestions - any chance at all you can get a private scan quickly? Or can you hire a doppler (quick delivery time from Hi-baby)?
Good news stories? Bled twice early on, once for 6 days - now 25 wks after having 4 mcs.
Fingers crossed for you xxx

Hello Brasso - sorry to hear you're going through this worry. If it is any help, there are a bunch of lovely ladies in the 'Freak Out' thread under 'Conception' who will know exactly what you're talking about and will understand your worries about the previous MMC. I reckon at least half of the posters in there at the mo have had some sort of bleeding so you are definitely not alone.

The wait to find out what's going on is horrible. I hope there your scan brings nothing but good news x

Hi, my story is so similar - also 3rd pregnancy. I have also had a m/c and it really does freak you out so I totally understand. I had red blood bleeding at 8wks, 10wks and 12wks. Each time they would not see me on the official ward and I had to wait for an appointment on the EPU which usually involved sitting around for hours waiting for a doctor to be around for a scan. They really do not understand how you are feeling - once you have had a m/c you are totally paranoid about every little bleed.

Do you have any cramping with the bleeding? Is it a lot (mine soaked my knickers). Just to reassure you, I am now 21wks and everything is totally fine.

Please keep pushing for a scan - I presented myself to my local A&E on the 3rd time because I was not prepared to hang around for days on end waiting for some reassurance via a scan. I explained that I had had a previous m/c and although I waited for 4 hours I had the scan and felt better. Worth a try?

Let us know how you get on and [hugs]

Thank you for all your kind messages. I have not had any more spotting for over 24 hours, which is a relief but am paranoid about every little twinge. I have also taken to symptom spotting - am I still tired, thirst etc (not had many symptoms this time). I have resigned myself to waiting until Wednesday (unless things develop further) and just have to go to the scan with a realistic approach - i.e. everything might not be OK and just try to get on with things. I had a good rest yesterday and have to say feel better for that - I have been having a really stressful time at work recently. Am off today too and hope to do a few work jobs at home so that Monday and Tuesday are less stressful too.

Thank you all.

if your worried go to a and e I wouldnt normaly advocate for this but they have a duty of care once your there to be scanned and be seen...xxx Hope everything is ok. x

I was told by mw if I had any more bleeding to go straight to A&E. I did last pregnancy as was freaking out and they arranged a scan there and one with EPU.

Thank you again for all your support. I had my 12 week scan today and my baby died at 8 weeks. Absolutely gutted, this is the second time this has happened. Having medical management and spending lots of time cuddling my precious DD.
