I am 16 wks, I started bleeding last week so went to A&E, had a scan and they told me it looked fine. It hasn't stopped me worrying though as I expected the bleeding to stop but hasn't. It's very red but no clots (sorry for detail) Has anyone else experienced this or anything like this?!

I had brown discharges at approx 15-16 weeks for almost 9 days. I was extremely worried. I went to a fetal medicine specialist who did a scan (privately) and said it was totally normal (membraines stretching). The spotting stopped a day or so after I saw him (I thought to myself -- awaste of money, but I got a peace of mind after seeing him!) Hope it all goes well for you.

I had brown bleed at 22 wks - went to DAU and they scanned, said everything looked fine, no more bleeding. Its really frustrating isnt it? You'd think they would be able to spot exactly where it came from and why...but alas no such detail.
I assume they asked you all the relevant questions about what you had been up to before the bleed? Exerting yourself? having sex?
Did they say to go back if it didnt stop?

Yes very frustrating! Yes they did but I've been taking it easy, got my partner doing everything for me! Haha. I'm going to my GP tomorrow to see if I can get some answers. I've heard bleeding isn't a good sign during pregnancy but also heard it's normal... Ahh so complicated!

Yeah, if you dont get any answers then realisticaly all you can do is take it easy....and then forget about it! Its easy to torture yourself with what ifs and to research too much into different causes...but for goodness sake, unless you have any other weirdness going on, stay away from google!! Lets hope it remains an insignificant mystery and it doesnt happens again. x

Yes your right, google is probably my enemy at the moment! Thanks for commenting, take care x

Hi,
I'm 15 weeks into my first pregnancy and had a massive haemorrhage(?!) at 9 weeks. We assumed the absolute worst but baby was fine. The bleeding stopped over 4 days but then a week later came back - not as much as before or as fresh but still pretty grim. That lasted just over 3 weeks. The reason for mine is a bicornuate uterus. They can't do anything about it and have told me that I have to be super careful till week 24 and that the bleeding could come back. We've been in and out of the hospital so many times and unfortunately each time we go in are told a different (and usually unhelpful and alarming) prognosis. So I'm just taking it easy, not lifting or stretching (it almost went away and then came back after I emptied a compost bin...) and no sex. Just the sofa, food and repeats of Midsomer Murders... good luck and hang in there xxx

I've had bleeding (bright red) on and off since 8 weeks. Basically every 2 or 3 weeks. I'm now 29 weeks and everything so far has checked out fine. Baby is healthy. I know it's hard not to worry (I had a miscarriage at 9wks) but one of the the best things to do is relax and not lift heavy things (this seemed to trigger mine off but I'm moving house so it's hard to take the advice!).

Good luck!

I had bleeding and clots etc at 32 weeks with dd - feared the worst - was devastated until they found a heartbeat and everything was fine. DD was born 2 days before due date!

This time I've had bleeding at 6 weeks but had scan all fine - it's twins.

CBear6 · 02/03/2011 17:45

I had bleeding all the way through with my son, at 24 weeks it was bad enough for them to admit me to hospital, after they let me out I had a scan every four weeks and an ante-natal check every two weeks (alternated between the consultant and the midwife).

They never did find it was coming from, cervical erosion was on theory and a ruptured uterine cyst was another but high definition scan and visual examinations showed nothing.

My son was born at 40 weeks, perfectly healthy. Bleeding is really common in pregnancy, scary as hell but common.

cryhavoc · 02/03/2011 17:56

I had a big red gush followed by four days of spotting when I was 13 weeks with DD. All absolutely fine - normal pregnancy, normal birth (whatever that is) and she is a healthy 3 yr old.

It sounds as though they were happy at the scan. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I know how worrying it is, but please try to relax.

I had several huge bleeds (and I mean huge) with ds4. A scan showed where the blood was coming from and I was told to rest. DS was born at 39 weeks Smile. He's 5 now.

This is making me feel better, off to the Early pregnancy clinic in the morning. I'm about 7 weeks and have had very, very light red bleeding and been told to go by my GP. I feel a bit of a fraud, but with a few other minor pains and stuff, I need the reassurance.
OP hope things go well.
