Normal? Or common? I don't overly notice it during the day but if one of my dc's presses in the spot for some reason (or me to see if it still hurts Blush) then is does hurt. I've had it now for at least 2 weeks. Do you think it's something I should get checked out sooner rather then later or could I leave it until my next appointment in 2 weeks? Almost feels like a new bruise but hasn't gotten any less painful in the couple of weeks I've had it.

Watching with interest as I have the same thing. I'm now almost 28 weeks and have a tender area on my bump, like a bruise just as you describe. I have an appointment with the midwife tomorrow so will ask her and let you know what she says.

Thanks fitfy. I accidentally bonked it yesterday and the pain was really sharp! Hope your appointment goes well today :)

I had this, but on my left side, just near my belly button. I saw the midwife (well actually ended up at the labour ward because all the Drs surgeries in our area were shut at the same time for essential training - but that's a whole different thread!) and she had a wee look at me and listened to baby to make sure all was ok. It was and she thought it was just one of those things.....

Mine was, as you say like a bruise, and it hurt more when I poked at it (well, don't poke at it then silly!) and also it hurt more when baby shifted over that point or kicked me there putting pressure on it from the inside. I was 26 weeks when it happened and am now 29 weeks and it's gone.

I would def get it checked out tho, to be safe, but I hope this helps.

Thanks raspberry. It does make my smirk when I press it to 'check' it's still hurting Grin!

that was a couple of day ago, and have still got it... like everyone has said, its like a bruise.
and i have been concernd but everyone around me told me il be fine:/ still havent put my mind at rest ....
if you do find out it was something, please let me know?! :)
hope everything is all ok (yn)

I have this just above my belly button & slightly to left - I'm 32 weeks but had it for a few weeks now. It feels like a bruise, occasionally with some tension like it it being pulled (I guess depends on babys position).

I was checked over during first PG when it first happened & told nothing to worry about, and now it is back in exactly the same spot. Probably some muscular weakness/tension related to expanding girth! It went as soon as DD was born.

raspberryshake · 04/03/2011 20:07

Good to know a few of us have had the same thing, and been told it wasn't serious. Thanks for info Findingstuff.

Mine is back, but I felt a muscle twinge as I swung DD round today, she is nearly 3, so no lightweight! That will teach me! Given that it's back after that it's probably muscle related, baby certainly very happy and is auditioning for Riverdance as I type!

Let us know how you all you all get on! And remember stop poking at it! :o

knackered76 · 05/03/2011 09:15

Well I certainly have no muscles to speak of after giving birth to a small elephant last time Grin! Reckon you're right though, probably just trying ot keep it together before they completely give up the fight!

I've had the same thing, in the same place! Lasted about a week then went away. Just assumed I'd pulled something or something was being overstretched.

yama · 05/03/2011 18:21

I had that on the left hand side with dc2. Midwife said it was nothing to worry about. Sometimes it was agony.

Anyway, it went away when dc2 was born and I hadn't thought of it again until I saw your thread title.

fiftyfifty · 05/03/2011 19:00

OK, I saw the midwife yesterday and asked her about it. She says it's simply where the baby has been kicking/punching/etc inside and is similar to a bruise but internal. Absolutely nothing to worry about and will probably come and go for a while.

My sore spot has moved so it seems like a very good explanation to me. Have painful twinges when my baby kicks or turns around that area.

Am also guilty of regularly poking the sore spot just to check it's still sore!

Hope this sets your mind at rest.

knackered76 · 05/03/2011 20:07

Thanks fifty. I assumed it must be something like that as it's where my ds headbutted me a few weeks ago! Oh well, I guess the internal ones just take longer to heal!

I had the same thing and my midwife said it could be pain from a kick to my ovary! Made me feel a bit queasy when she said that...!
