Just thought I'd say hi and admit that I've come over from the other side (Netmums).

I found netmums when I was pregnant with my son (now 2) and stupidly thought that one parenting website was much the same as the other and stuck with it.

It seems I was wrong. At last a forum where I don't have to spend my time being incensed by small minded opinions... Nauseated by faux camaraderie... Confused by entire messages written in text speak... Concerned for the future literacy of our country...

Faith is restored. Now I'm pregnant again I shall come here for advice. Thanks mumsnet mums!

Oh dear, I've just been over for a quick look and I don't think I could stay there long! Animated emoticons, waving at me; little yellow pregnant emoticons, tickers, not for me thanks! And is it me or does everything over there take sooooo loooong to load?? I think I'll hang around here!

trixie123 · 02/03/2011 11:47

DP thinks its hilarious that there is "netmums" and "mumsnet". He hasn't grasped the fact that they are so different. I think he likens it to that bit in Life of Brian with Judean People's Front and the People's front of Judea!

Gottawearshades · 02/03/2011 11:55

Hi!

I've defected too, but from BabyCentre. Yes, all the babydust was making me vomit! (even more than normal)
This is my first pregnancy, so I've been glued to the internet constantly. Information junkie I'm afraid!

SoupDragon · 02/03/2011 11:59

Hang on... I've got some baby dust around here somewhere...

The only time I've ever posted on netmums the whole thread was deleted after complaints about me!

coraltoes · 02/03/2011 13:00

WTF is baby dust?!
i prefer the poo idea btw...Grin

moogdroog · 02/03/2011 13:02

Bloody marvellous - I've brought out a few more defectors, although I'm agog and aghast to hear that there are forums worse that netmums.

Could we commission a study to compare them in a fair way? A Hun League table perhaps? Posts per hundred that lack any grammar? Baby dust mentions per 100 words? Ill conceived opinion quotient?

I like it here!

nickelbabe · 02/03/2011 13:03

in that case julie that's what i've got too! Grin

InmaculadaConcepcion · 02/03/2011 13:12

nickelbabe · 02/03/2011 13:14

InmaculadaConcepcion · 02/03/2011 13:18

The beginning of that thread reminds me of something....

nickelbabe · 02/03/2011 13:18

can you see this ticker?

InmaculadaConcepcion · 02/03/2011 13:19

No pombear emoticon, I note....

Although I've slightly got smiley envy now.

nickelbabe · 02/03/2011 13:24

discuss

this thread would have been ripped apart on here.

JimmyChoo17 · 02/03/2011 13:30

This thread was amusing me during my lunch....so I clicked nickelbabe's link whilst at work...only to get a warning of "indecent usage alert" appear on my screen from our internet police (in other words indicating that such a website is inappropriate!)

I cant stand any site that allows images and tickers to fill up more space than the actual word content. Although I have to admit...I might have to take a nose online at home later!!

PS I have seen some offending sites using the terms you have used and you do have to wonder, especially in the TTC section....why some people are using rather than sperm....Confused

nickelbabe · 02/03/2011 13:31

that's quite funny that you're allowed to MN, which has swearing, but not NM which doesn't Grin

just goes to show - it's bad for you over there!

JimmyChoo17 · 02/03/2011 13:38

I know - I'm keeping one eye on the stairs in case IT come after me!!

It seems that during my lunch I cant gamble, entertain myself with porn or visit NMs, or spanish BBC sites...hey ho. You win some you lose some Grin

MN is good as is v similar to our work site too...great if fulfilling your craving for cheese at lunch overuns :)

sh77 · 02/03/2011 13:46

This is the most ludicrous post this morning - someone who woke up humping her pillow.....
