i didn't have a clue what my blood type was until they told me at some point during 1st pregnancy!

supadupapupascupa · 01/03/2011 10:08

no you will be told. they will take a sample from you. they need to know in case you are rhesus negative, in which case you will need anti-D injections.

have you seen a midwife yet? i would have expected them to have done this by now...

DontWorryBaby · 01/03/2011 10:08

No, they will screen your blood at one of your first appointments and tell you your blood type. It's mainly to check if you're rhesus negative or not.

Yes I've seen midwife, she's taken blood, I've had first scan and still don't know what type I am...?

If you are Rhesus _ve, along with your notes, they'll also send you a booklet and extra Rhesus information. So if you hvaen't got that, chances are you are not negative.

Hi I got my blood test results when I went back to the hospital at 20 weeks. I had a letter telling me that I was Rh- before that but didn't find out my acutal blood group until then. I think the letter arrived sometime around week 14/15, but it will depend on the speed of the blood lab.

I got mine back at the next MW appt at 16 weeks.
