Just been watching 'Babes in the Wood' on Home & Health channel. The woman had her baby, which she had thought/been told was a girl, and lo and behold out it popped and he was a boy!

Does anyone know how common it is for sonographers to get it wrong? I'm expecting DD in a week or so and am stuffed if she turns out to be a boy. She has a wardrobe full of girly clothes, a pink bedroom, a pink and purple quinny pram . . . girly everything basically. I've given away all of DS's old stuff so can't even fall back on that.

Anyone know where any stats are? Need some reassurance! Obv would love baby regardless of sex, but he would have no stuff!

Most hospitals won't tell you what the sex is if they can't see it clearly. But, I know 2 people that were told they were having girls, and they had boys - relax, there is nout you can do about it ;)

Same as Onlywants one. I know of a few people who have been told it was a girl and out popped a boy. But agree that they would normally say it wasn't clear at the scan if they were unsure, as so many parents have sued hospitals for sexing the baby wrong. You can normally change the baby things if it does turn out to be a boy, a bothere though I know.

Like you I have been told I am expecting a girl (have three boys already). Wasn't brave enough to buy girl things in case it was wrong and am saving all my clothes shopping, bare a pack of white babygrows and vests for the hospital, until after baby arrives and I know its a girl. Think this is just becuase I have three boys though and was shocked when they said it was a girl. Still can't quiet believe it.

Hope you get your little girl, as you are so prepared for a girl.

I think the scan looked pretty clear in being a girl, got a good view. The scan print out says 'appear to be female' and the sonographer always makes a point of saying that it's not a guarantee - their way of protecting themselves from being sued I suppose. I've always wondered who the hell would sue though - you've got your lovely baby, you should be full of baby-love not disappointed!

They might have been wrong but probably aren't, you can never know for sure until it's here though!

One thing you appear not to have considered though - what if it is a girl and she doesn't like pink Shock
