I am 3 months pregnant...Have a 6 year old and a 2 year old, I am so used to having so much energy! Now I am exhausted....I wake up at 7 and im ready to go back to bed at 10! The other day I slept for 4 hours during the day! This cant be right as I know i wasnt like this in my previous pregnancy.

Does anyone have the same problem or know of anything that can help :)

It could be a low-iron count and you might need extra iron. I had it in last pregnancy - I remember driving and feeling that I should just pull over and sleep, despite being only 5 minutes from home and having DD in car. Grin
The extra iron made a big difference to my energy levels. Go and see your GP or MW.

I had my blood test back in January...guess it can come along at anytime. Im due to see her next week but might just book app with GP as I can't imagine it going on for much longer.

Thank you

By the way, I used Spatone iron supplements from a health food shop on recommendation from my MW. They can be worth trying first before taking iron tablets because they don't make you as constipated. Blush

Check with MW first though, they might need to do a blood test.

This sounds so familiar! Am about 10 weeks pregnant, have a 5 yo and a 2yo, and I now have the ability to fall asleep if I sit still. I'd put it down to working 4 days a week, but I've just had a week off for half term, and it made no difference.

I have an antenatal appt tomorrow, I'll be asking there if this is beyond normal (I'm sure it is, was not this bad in first 2 pregnancies) and I'll let you know if there's anything they suggest.

Other than that, my sympathies :) And a yawn!

I've been pretty much the same for about 4 weeks now (10 weeks) Never had it this bad with the other two, I could spend all day in bed and still be sleep through the night.

I put mine down to my youngest only being 5 months old.

Esian · 28/02/2011 11:47

Wow Nunnie 5 months! That's hard-core parenting Grin

I remember my iron-count wasn't that low but I was exhausted and the iron supplement definitely made a difference to me.

I know, I blame Christmas Wink

I've been feeling the same, the slight difference being that I sleep terribly at night - usually no more than three hours unbroken :(

So I'm shattered all the time, and spend too much of night time awake and trying to get back to sleep Angry

Because I have no trouble falling asleep there doesn't seem to be much the docs can recommend. I have low bp but normal iron levels.

Hope everyone gets better!

Thank you everyone....I will definitely enquire about the iron tablets! sounds like they are just the thing I need right now! apart from sleep ;-)
