31+4 and dodgy chinese

we went over to a friends house last night and had a takeaway.

I had sweet and sour chicken balls with boiled rice and a vegetarian spring roll.

I woke up at 4 feeling awful. by 8 am the vomiting and diarrhea had started. baby is still kicking and i am lying on the couch feeling crap sipping dioralyte. :(

I am assuming the chicken balls were dodgy and this is simple food poisoning. is there anything else i should do? at what point should i ring midwives? If at all?

Googling "food poisoning in pregnancy" did not help at all- just stories of salmonella and listerosis and toxoplacemia causing miscarriage/still birth. sounds like they all take longer to show up though!?

Many thanks

Poor you, hope you will feel better soon. I do think you should phone the midwives or NHS Direct for advice. Keep drinking lots of water too.

Hi honey, sounds like you're really suffering :(

I am no expert, but I think the baby will be completely fine. However, best to take PepsiPopcorn's advice and phone the midwives.

Hope you feel better soon.

I phoned NHS direct when I thought I ate some dodgy sausages, they where really good at putting my mind to rest.

Hope you feel better! Grin

I had a dodgy chinese at around 12 weeks pregnant...was sick and couldn't even hold down water for a solid two days. It was awful, and I was scared I was going to lose the baby...but here I am at 38 weeks and all is fine. I did phone NHS direct and asked them what I should do and their advice as reassuring. Talk to your midwife or call NHS direct though, they may have some advice to offer you that would be relevant to your stage of pregnancy.

Hope you feel better soon (hugs)
