okay, this may be a really silly/pointless question, but im almost 37 weeks pg with my first, and have been noticing that over the last few days or so his movements have been completely different. They havn't slowed down or been less frequent, so im not worried, just curious as they have been so much more often than usual. He's always been quite active, but seriously he is CONSTANTLY moving around in there. Not just the odd kick, but full on scenes from alien going on. haha. Just wondering if anyone else found this.....and someone told me that movement tends to slow down as labour starts....is this complete rubbish? :)

I don't know about the "as labour starts" movement changing but I have read in many places that the idea that movements slow down or stop in the third trimester because there is less room is utter nonsense. If the movements have greatly reduced then I would say you should get it checked out with your midwife as you are better safe than sorry.

I am 37 weeks exactly and for a while thought the movements had slowed down and got myself rather worried then I realized they hadn't they just felt different and I wasn't recognising them the same way. My LO sometimes now rather than kicking my belly and giving the Alien effect she was kicking up towards my ribs and my vital organs. This was resulting in me becoming suddenly breathless or feeling a little sick, depending which organ she was picking on. This evening though she was back to picking on my belly and I spent a good 10 minutes watching her trying to fight her way out. :)

37 weeks also. My baby also seems more active than normal. Seems to have more awake and sleep cycles than before.

I'm 37 wks too and i feel like washing machine sometimes! I'd only be concerned if movements were drastically reduced - not sure that's always true that baby goes quiet when birth is imminent but it is sometimes.
