Hiya, I'm new to Mums net :)

Me and my partner and currently trying for a baby :) and I'm due on my period on Monday well hopefully I won't be (I've also had 2 miscarriages over a year ago) I know the right times to o the month to have sex and luckly mine was on and around valentines day. I know its possible at any time of the month but higher around then but I was just wondering if I got pregnant say 1/2/3/4 days ago would a test come back postive or will I have to wait?

Dam baby brain, 9 months ago I knew this stuff inside out, now I'm sat trying to remember the ovulation cycle and the most fertile times.

Rather than over complicating matters- if you have conceived in this cycle then you should get a positive result from the day your period is due regardless of when you actually had sex. So, no, you shouldn't have to wait any longer to find out.

Agreed. Wait until Monday at least to take the test. If you take it any earlier you might get a false negative or be squinting at the stick trying to work out if it's a line or not. By Monday it should be obvious. Good luck.

There is a test that says you can use it up to 6 days before period is due, but in small print says that it is only about 60% reliable. I have always waited a few more days too to be sure of the result. I can only deal with deep dark lines!

I'd wait until Monday too and good luck with the test, hope you get the result you want.

hi I got a false negative, I took the test a week after we had done the deed.... Went to a wedding got hammered at the wedding thinking I wasnt pregnant.... My period was late, didnt think too much into it as test had allready been done and we only had sex once without suing anything..low and behold did another test about three days after my period was due and was pregnant. !! Honestly didnt expect it.... stupid I know.

Id say you will have to wait a few days in...but I could be wrong..I used Clear blue both times.... digital one.... so its up to you. xx Good luck. x

It can vary depending on the test, I tested the day after my period was due and used 2 different cheapo ones (1 unreadable, 1 negative) and then a boots digital one (BFP) and I am definitely pregnant! I much prefer the digital ones, they are so much easier than having to squint at a line that may or may not be imaginary. I'd wait until Monday, if you get a negative now you may end up having to retest anyway. Good luck!

Hi and thank you so much for all your answers and support. I have bought a First Respose and I'm just like a cat curiosity killed me and I did a test today with a negative result :( and it says 99% accurate. Though after all your comments though I feel alot better ansd I will retest on Monday. I know maybe this month I might not be just really want to be :) Thanks again, you all helped and made me smile xxx

Caroline, sorry to hear you have a negative, but do test again in a couple of days.

Forgot to say welcome to Mumnets too and did you know there is a Conception section where you might get some more support with TTC?

I got two negatives off First Response kits, even though I'd had loads of other signs since probably the day after conception! (Achey boobs etc - I KNEW I was pregnant) - I didn't get a positive until I was a week late, although I was absolutely certain there couldn't have been any other cause of how I was feeling.

What worries me is that I went to Alton Towers the weekend before and went on everything because test said negative. Baby's still hanging on in there though, so s/he must love coasters!

dont read too much into that.... Like I said I too had negative results just before my period...but then a few days after I was due did it and it was a positive...I will be thinking of you....x

carolinelou fingers crossed your period doesn't show up on Monday and that you get a positive test next week. There's a thread under 'conception' full of lovely women who are trying again after miscarriage if you're looking for any support.

Hi everyone,

No sign of nasty evil period today... woohoo! Though still had a negative result Angry today,. My boobs felt like I was being hit with a baseball bat yesterday and hit bit not as hard today so was convinced I was gonna come on today so now the waiting game xxxxx
