Very excited, this is DC2.

My cycles have been all wonky and averaging about 37-38 days (sometimes 33). My last period began on 17th Jan....this means I am technically 5+4...arrgh I'm confused (admittedly it doesn't take much these days).

Can anyone advise? There should be a stupid smiley just for me!

Just wanting to work out how many weeks I am - see I even feel silly writing that, I only found out this morning and already thinking in weeks Blush

Am in London so probably need to book scan in asap!

No way of knowing if you have irregular periods as it all depends on when you ovulate. If you know when you ovulate or if you've only had sex once, then it might be easier to narrow it down.

So if you ovulated 2 weeks ago, you're 4wks pg and if you ovulated 3 weeks ago, you're 5wks pg etc. LMP is only a rough guide and based on the assumption that the average cycle is 28 days with ovulation on day 14.

A scan won't show much until after 6 weeks either so might not tell you much either way.

Ring your surgery and find out whether you need to see a GP or if you can book straight in with a midwife (they do this around 8-12 weeks depending on area). They'll probably arrange a dating/nuchal scan from around 12 weeks after your last period and then adjust your dates according to what the scan shows.

Thanks ShowOfHands Definitely ovulated two weeks ago - so 4 weeks then.

Re: scan, not anxious to have one early or anything, I just know it's better to book in asap to make sure you get a date as close as possible around the 12 week mark.

Huge, big, massive congratulations!!!. I would make you 5 +4 too.

If you ovulated 2 weeks ago, then yes you can assume you're 4 weeks atm. Some midwives will take into account your cycle length and adjust accordingly, others seem to just go for lmp and assume you ovulated 14 days later.

Don't know about London but round here you just book in between 8 and 10 weeks and then they send you a scan date through the post. Nobody will see you before 8 weeks.
