Runny eggs are supposed to be a risk because of salmonella, but commercial layers have to be vaccinated against salmonella, (these eggs are lion stamped) so you have very little chance of getting it from a runny egg anyway.

If you got salmonella, you'd get pretty ill, but it doesn't cross the placenta, so baby won't be affected by the salmonella, although obviously if you got it very severely then the symptoms of that (high temperature for example) could be a danger to baby if not controlled. The risk to baby is pretty low though and the risk to you is low in the first place.

Too be honest I had a mouthful of some cake mix containing raw eggs and was fine!

salmonella really sucks, I got it from soft scoop ice cream in november.
BUT, it didn't put me off eating lion marked runny eggs :) just make sure the eggs are fresh.

What midori says is all true. First time out I didn't know this and avoided them, but last two pregnancies I've not been in the slightest bit worried and eaten them as I would normally.

You're more likely to be involved in a car accident on the way to the supermarket to buy them I would guess!!

I don't have an answer for you, I just wanted to tell you that when one's mind is on other things, the title of your post can at first glance sound absolutely horrendous Grin

I have been told and have read that as long as the egg white is cooked and not translucent it's fine, I always have runny poached eggs at the weekend and am not going to stop now! also as midori said most eggs are vaccinated against salmonella anyway.

Wouldn't have crossed my mind first pg but this time runny fried eggs are my only craving! Given that my appetite in general is bad due to nausea I did some research (Midori is right)and decided the risk was so small I'd have something I wanted to eat. I try to limit it to once a week but can't always resist Wink
