I am about 5 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby, and I feel crap. I have had brown discharge since my last missed period every morning. It is odourless, and dark brown. I also have had headaches all day, my tummy has felt a bit sore, have had a sharp pain on one side. I have been windy, so could be that.

I feel in general like crud, felt amazing the first time around, so this is a shock to me.

I am going to go to the Drs on Friday, but does any of this sound normal/worrying to any of you?

I just have a really bad feeling about this, and am waiting for something awful to happen.

Not sure about the spotting, I didn't have that.

But I did have everything else you describe. I felt generally awful from 6-12 weeks (and then slightly less so till 18 weeks).

There's lots of documentation of every pregnancy being different, so try not to worry.

If the pain in your side gets worse, ring your docs/NHS direct immediately.

Good luck at the docs on friday.

i think thats pretty normal, could be like implantation bleeding? you do get more discharge sometimes.

I am sure it is all fine, I have felt like crap since 5 weeks, I never knew it was possible to feel so bad and not actually die!

I had some brown discharge around 6/7 weeks accompanied by pain, which turned out to be wind. I consistently felt like crap and had atrocious morning sickness.

I went to EPU and had a scan to be on the safe side, all turned out to be fine with baby, but if worried deffo get checked out.

The sonographer said to me that no bleeding is 'normal' in pregnancy, it is common though, so don't leap to any conclusions yet =)

If its brown it's old blood. At 5 weeks its likely to be implantation bleeding. If you get pain or red blood then speak to a midwife. Having said that there's nothing you or anyone else can do that early for the baby.

If it was a m/c (and I'm not saying it is) then the main thing would be to be sure that it was complete and you didn't get an infection. If it carries on for more than a week, gets heavier or smells then seek help.

I bled for four days with implantation bleeding, enough to fool me into thinking it was a period and not testing for another couple of weeks. I previously had a m/c at seven weeks which was like a very heavy period with crampy pain. I hope that helps.

Thanks everyone for your posts. I am getting my head round the idea, that I might just be having a shitty 1st trimester this time.

Will see the GP tomorrow, who will hopefully put my mind at ease.

Thanks again.
