Can Someone Reassure Me Please? Cramping at 21 weeks...

I am 21 + 1 today. I had my 20 weeks scan on Monday, all was fine and I saw the consultant (or rather a registrar) then too.

I have been getting cramping in my lower abdomen on and off for several weeks or so now. Just above my pubic bone. It isn't on and off, but I get it for an hour or a few hours at a time and then it goes again. It is quite uncomfortable and noticable, but I don't have to take painkillers or anything. I mentiond it to the registrar, but she was absolutely useless and I don't think it really sank in.

Is it just stretching/ligament pain? Sometimes I notice it more to the left side, but not always. I have also heard of 'irritable uterus', could it be that?

I am trying not to worry, but have had serious complications and losses before, so it's very hard not to. I can feel baby moving.

I have no answers for you but I have the same. I mentioned it to the consultant at my checkup this morning - like yours, she didnt say alot, just 'call us if there is any bleeding'. I have been trying to convince myself that they are BH but my bump doesnt go hard at the time they happen so not convinced. Anyone out there with any advice for us?

Is it possible you have an undetected uti? This can cause the sort of feelings you're describing (at least, it did with my last pregnancy). And any undected infaction can certain make a uterus 'irritable', even going as far as starting prem labour.

If I were you, especially considering your past losses (I think I remember posts of yours mentioning DT's?) I would see my GP. They were my first port of call when I was in pain and I find as they're not the 'specialists' they are more cautious and actually listen to you (I've also had dismissive consultant/registrar appointments that drove me to distraction).

If it's nothing more sinister than stretching (and certainly, it could be) then all well and good. But you need reassurance (unsurprisingly) and health care professionals have a duty of care towards you - infortunately, sometimes we need to be a little more vocal or creative to actually feel as if we are being cared for.

Do keep us posted; I hope it's nothing, or something eaily remedied Smile

undected infaction? Infortunately? Sheesh. Believe it or not Enlish is my first language... undetected infection* and unfortunately

Enlish Manda? Wink

midori I'm just 6 weeks but have been having similar cramps to you, for me they seem to be related to needing the loo (so wondering if bowel puts pressure on uterus?) and is just around my bikini line but is combined with lower back ache and feeling sick/dizzy from the pain. When I went to the walk in centre this weekend because of it I was told it was things 'knitting', so is probably round ligament pain with things stretching and growing.

Hope that puts your mind at rest - but go and badger them if you feel you need answers x

could be stretching... i had some, too. my consultant said it is normal as long as there is no bleeding..
