I had lower back ache on Sunday it lasted a few days with contractions coming and going nothing regular. Saw midwife on Tuesday she said to rest for the day and see how I go in the short space of walking from the midwife to my car I felt lower backache come on again this brought on some more contractions Joys!! I went home rested had contractions nothing regular and some back pain. Last night I had more contractions and felt sick rang labour ward they said to try sitting on a backwards dining chair I did after about an hour it faded. Inbetween all of this I have been taking paracetamol which midwife said was right. Been woken up several times in the night with pains in my lower abdo and then they went. Tried not to do much again today just had a shower and now I feel sick and had more contractions! What the hell is going on?! Anyone else had this? Im so tired Im lucky 5 yr old DS is with my mum this week or I would be not fit for anything! I dont remember any of this with 1st pregnancy Confused

Do the contractions stop if you change position?

You're talking to MWs and they don't sound concerned. from my (very limited and inexpert experience) it does sound like it could be the very early stages of labour - but that doesn't mean that active labour is imminent.

I think if it were me I'd try and rest as much as possible, get a first-pass labour bag packed - and keep ringing the MWs as much as I needed to feel reassured.

If its any consolation, my MW with DD1 and DD2 swore that long latent phases made for quick and easy births - so I'll keep my fingers crossed that'll happen for you :)

Hello Tangle thanks for the reply. I was worried about the early labour thing. it felt like my early labour with my DS. I had him at 40 weeks though. But all the signs were there. Im off to see the consultant tommorow for a scan and check for things.

They do stop if I change positions but then if I move aorund it can start something. Today I have been in bed (how exciting Im getting sooo bored) and its ok had a few contractions on and off. Think the walk to the hospital tommorow might start something again! Im a bit worried about that. Its only a short distance but at least Im walking to the right place Grin

I hope your right with the quick and easy birth im pooing my self! I had a long one with DS but can do that again just worried like every other woman out there! Thanks again for the reply much appreciated! Smile
