Has anyone ever had hypnotherapy in pregnancy for niggles? I have a cronic nasal drip going down the back of my throat constantly! Have tried accupunture and it never touched it! This is my last port of call!

copper I will ask my hypnotherapist colleagues whether anyone has treated this type of problem and their success rate. Personally I only deal with issues that are emotion based and the nasal drip I would have thought is purely physical..but I might be wrong there. What part of the country are you in?

Near macclesfield Cheshire! That's what my husband said, it's a hormonal thing not in your head as it stops as soon as I give birth and I'd never heard of it before getting preggers with my first so how on earth could I have dreamt up that one? I don't know whether people are just trying to rip me off?

Have you spoken to your doctor about it? A hyonotherapist (I used to work as one - no time these days!) will ask you if you have had it checked out. They will only treat you if they are sure that you are happy that it isn't something that needs medical attention and will work on you to either lessed the symptoms or stop you getting bugged by it.

Have tried all sorts from the doctors and nothing touches it! And trust me, this is ruining my life!!! I go through 7 toilet rolls a day! I can't eat out or go anywhere as it's dead embarrassing! I need this to stop yesterday!!! Will try anything but not sure if hypnotherapy would actually do anything?

It sounds like an allergy. Have you had it checked?

Yes and it's all hormone related! This is my third pregnancy and same with the other two, starts at 6 weeks then two days after I give birth it stops! I'm allergic to having babies! :(

Copper poor you, thats really miserable. Hypnotherapy would help you cope with the problem, remove the stress around it and give you some tactics for managing, however it could not guarantee to stop it. That said, it depends very much on how you respond to hypnotherapy, as some people have much stronger physical responses than others and amazing physical things can happen. For example, although Im a therapist myself I have never been able to completely disassociate from pain so could not expect to get through an operation without anasthaesia for example. However I have clients who have an amazing capacity to control their physical selves and for those I would say that yes, it would be perfectly possible to control physical symptoms. I did have a client who fell into that category who suffered from nose bleeds and he was amazing at stopping them in trance.
My advice would be to speak to a few hypnotherapists in your area (check for names on the General Hypnotherapy Register) and see how they react when you tell them your problem. Ask them for specific times they have treated physical problems like this and see what they say. You will know when you find the right one as they will be totally open, confident and give you a sense of excitement.
If you want any more help finding a good therapist, PM me.

Good luck x

Thank you so much, that's really helped. I phoned quite a few and all said they'd never heard of it or treated anything like this but would give it a go! There was one woman that said yes she could treat it but she charged a fortune and is where all the Manchester footballers and high flyers live so not entirely sure about her. But as for vetting people, I have no idea what I'm looking for! Would definitely give it a go as I'm spending so much money on tissue (going through about 40 rolls a week) I would make my money back in no time! But think I've just convinced myself that nothings going to work!
I do have a very controlling mind when it comes to pain, I'm a very quiet labourer, just close my eyes and go into myself and pushing, I'm in complete control! (she says! Wait till this one! Maybe completely different!) so I am very open minded!
The only thing that's again stopping me is that if I swallow too much of this, it contains too much pogestrian, which causes you to not digest your food very well, and with hypremesis aswell, is not a good mix, so am I better just spitting it out?
Will defo give it a go! What area do you live in? Would quite happily come and see you!!!
