I'm wrapping it around hunks of cheddar, because that's what the bump demands.

And you know what? I DON'T CARE Grin

I didnt think parma ham was on the 'naughty list' anyhow.

babyapplejack · 23/02/2011 11:36

If you eat parma ham during pregnancy, you're more susceptible to getting listeriosis and toxoplasmosis.

Coppernoddle · 23/02/2011 11:41

You can get anything from. Anything these days and I've eaten rucks of the stuff! I have honey everyday and eat maple syrup till it comes out of my ears!! You have more chance of getting listeria through lettuce than anything else! And what about the eskimo's? All the eat is fish!!! And there the healthiest people alive!! Rant over! Your body will tell you what to do!!

Scouseem · 23/02/2011 11:54

That sounds yummy think im gonna have to try that. Your very naughty tho for sharing food ideas :)

Sparklies · 23/02/2011 13:44

Parma ham (the official stuff with the stamp on) is actually pretty safe due to the very strict production guidelines. So I compromise by stuffing my face full of it, but not the own brand stuff Wink

Yes, there's a tiny risk but there is with most stuff we do. Is that shopping trip in the car (risky!!) strictly necessary? Probably not, but we do it anyway. Living like saints probably does more harm in the long run due to a depressed mum! That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

I found this after craving Parma Ham :)

Love the stuff. In fact going to get hubby to pick some up now!

Bumpsadaisie · 23/02/2011 14:54

God I've eaten about a tenner's worth of Serrano ham on crackers this morning ...

Prinpo · 23/02/2011 17:27

Honey is fine in pregnancy, but not for children under 1 (see Food Standards Agency website section on what's safe in pregnancy - very reassuring).

Christ, I wish you hadn't mentioned Parma Ham. Now I REALLY REALLY want some. DH may have to do an emergency dash to Sainsbos later...

My understanding is that there's some risk but it's low. I think that in countries like Italy and Spain it's perfectly normal to scoff it throughout.

God, I really do want some now.

newmumtb · 23/02/2011 18:09

I've eaten Parma ham as well, i think if you buy it in a pack from a supermarket then you are pretty much safe, they test their stuff pretty well. I wish i was still craving it, now I can't stand any meat, only chips and baked potatoes at the mo :(

Coppernoddle · 23/02/2011 19:54

Little pebble, your not supposed to as it has yet another thing you could slightly catch which is again a crock of shit! I eat it everyday and have fond in all three of my pregnancies!
I've had a thing for smoked salmon and cockles which is weird I know and I'm not sure that's good for you neither! And saying all in moderation I could honestly laugh that one to pieces!
But, I don't drink, I don't smoke and I certainly don't take drugs so think I'm already giving little one the best start in life I could give!

My advise

DONT EAT OUT OF DATE FOOD!!!! end of!!!

Coppernoddle · 23/02/2011 19:55

:)

Trinaluce · 23/02/2011 20:44

Glad it's not just me Grin This baby wants MEAT. Any hams, chorizo, prosciutto, anything like that, usually straight from the packet. Also onion bhajees and Twix bars. Not together thankfully!

And I thought last time round was bad enough wanting pork pies every waking moment of the day.

MMmmm Parma ham

Coppernoddle · 24/02/2011 09:29

:) isn't it funny what we eat!! And you really don't have much control over it! I know they say you need to eat healthy and don't over eat! But where's the fun in that! For the past week I've eaten the biggest bowl of strawberry eaton mess as it's the only way I can keep down fruit! And I lost a stone at the beginning of my pregnancy so I'm defo trying to catch up now!!! I love food, even more in pregnancy! And anyone that's going to stand in the way of me and my bizarre cravings, god help them!!!!!!

Stangirl · 24/02/2011 09:51

There was a great article in the paper recently that set out the actual research and likelihood of getting ill from eating various foodstuffs. The main conclusion was a pregnant woman was more likely to be abducted by aliens than catching a baby threatening illness from food.

lolajane2009 · 24/02/2011 10:13

Knowing my luck and just to keep the odds up, I'd be the one abducted by aliens.

I tend to smell my food and I don't tend to eat anything that smells wrong to me or that makes me feel ill. Although at the moment that is everything. I have to admit I was really anxious at first about not eating some foods but now I am trying to be more relaxed.

BlingLoving · 24/02/2011 10:18

I love your attitudes. It's mine too. Every now and again you can see people looking at me like I'm weird because I'm not freaking out at whatever I've been offered. I avoid blue cheese and liver. That's about it.

BlingLoving · 24/02/2011 10:18

Oh, and I ALSO have eaten more pork pies in the last 2 months thn the last 2 years combined. Glad it's not just me.

Coppernoddle · 24/02/2011 12:16

Brilliant!! I love it!! :)

MrsBakerNeeld · 24/02/2011 17:45

This thread is making me seriously hungry! Pre-pregnancy I was a very fussy, nigh on vegetarian, but recently I'm craving protein sooo much!

Anyone else getting this?

P.S. I want parma ham.

allatsea1 · 24/02/2011 19:52

I've just had a whole pack with grapes and cheese: delicious!! The baby wanted it...
