Hi everyone,
I just wanted to recommend an new i-phone application for any expectant mummies out there. It's called Yoga Mama and I'm really enjoying using it.
The app takes you through various exercises, meditations and common problem areas, culminating in a structured class. Practicing yoga in preganancy is known to help with flexibility, strength and stamina, as well as prepare you mentally for a calm, strong labour. Yoga Mama also leads you to bond with your baby in such a lovely way.
I'm loving it, so thought I'd let you all know.
Best of luck in all your pregnancies,
Hat

do you know if this works only on i-phone or i-pod / i-pad and how one can install it? is it free of charge?

HatandAlfie · 20/02/2011 12:33

it works on both i-phone and i-pad I belive, and is £1.79 - I've been doing pre-natal yoga classes and they're £11 for a 45 minute session so this app is saving me a fortune. It features a huge list of pre-natal yoga exercises, so it's well worth it I think. It's also video footage, so it's really easy to follow (unlike text/images, which is much harder to use I've found).

Sorry I didn't answer the question about installing it - if you search 'yoga mama' in the app store you should see it.

And that was a word from our sponsors.... Hmm

HatandAlfie · 21/02/2011 15:00

Sponsors? I'm new to Mumsnet and thought posting this recommendation would be a good way to get involved. I apologise if I've breached any forum rules by endorsing something in this way.

I have passed your info on to my daughter, thank you.

Darlingdamsel · 21/02/2011 19:24

£11 for a 45 min sessin on a phone app? Not exactly value for money ...

And yes that original post sounded horribly contrived.

But perhaps that is just me.

Regardlesss good luck with it.

HatandAlfie · 21/02/2011 19:55

No it's £1.75 for the app, not £11! Sorry I came across as contrived, I love yoga and was excited to find this app, that's all.

Wow people are so mean!
I understood your post and will be trying it myself...thanks for the recommendation!

Happynat · 21/02/2011 20:25

I downloaded this app a couple of days ago and I think it's great.

clouiseg · 21/02/2011 22:54

Have been searching my local area for Antenatal yoga classes after doing them with dds 2 & 3 but can't find any round here! Thank you, very useful! Some of us are genuinely grateful Grin

Prinpo · 21/02/2011 23:03

Jesus, back to AIBU, you vipers Grin.

OP, thanks for the recommendation. I've been wanting to find a pregnancy yoga DVD. I'm getting a bit annoyed at the Wii constantly telling me that I'm putting on weight when I do Wii Fit yoga.

This sounds worth a try.

HatandAlfie · 22/02/2011 11:19

Thank you for the positive responses that have been posted - I'm really glad you found the recommendation useful and hope the app works for you.

I too have purchased the Yoga Mama app and found it very useful. Esp as it is in chapters-so 5 minutes or the full sequence, depending on how I feel.

KatieWatie · 22/02/2011 15:23

I looked at the app, saw it was new with just one review from what looked like the developer. Think I'll wait for more reviews from actual users before I pay for it! Hmm
