White nipples

Hi

Last week I noticed that my nipples - the actual pokey out nipple, not the areola - has white ish flecks on it - they're under the skin, not spots or anything. And it's definitely not Montgomery's tubercles as I have googled them. They faded a bit so I decided to ignore it but then this morning they were very visible again.

I am on the pill, and so it could be related to that, but I've been on the same brand for over three years and it's never happened before.

I have tried searching for old threads but so many nipple threads came up and I couldn't easily see this problem. I did also try googling but the results were not really very medically relevant..

Anyway, I hope someone can reassure me that this is not a symptom of pregnancy!

Just to follow up, in case anyone else ever has this, I'm definitely not pregnant :)

Apparently it can happen when on the pill, as the pill works by convincing your body you are already pregnant..hence some people have pregnancy symptoms.

It's strange it's only just started though, as you have been on the same brand for a while. Maybe just 'one of those things'?

I'm not worrying about it now, but just thought I'd confirm on here that it wasn't necessarily a pregnancy symptom in case anyone else has it and comes across this thread.

Tbh I think it may just have been dry skin or something I just had a bit of a panic at the time because I'd been on antibiotics!

Montgomery tubercles can become white (look similar to underskin pimples; they are accumulations of extra oil). I saw a breast specialist; he told me not to worry -- it is one of those age + pregnancy things...

Um not sure if helping as don't think you want to be pregnant but it was the first sign of pregnancy for me, thought bit strange as had always heard that nipples get darker. However, our bodies are weird and wonderful so im sure its not necessarily!

Thanks for your posts. I'm pretty certain I'm not pregnant as I had a period and then did a pregnancy test just to check, as I know you can still have periods when pregnant on the pill :)
