6/7 weeks preg. and ...... VIBRATING!?

It's NOT gas! Pleeeese dont say it is - everybody knows what gas feels like, and we don't forget just 'cos we're pregnant! Angry

And i know perfectly well it's not the baby moving, as he/she is barely the size of a grain of rice. So ..... what could it be?

Here's what it feels like - rapid vibrations like a nerve twitching (but not quite as localised as it feels in outer parts of the body) all around my lower uterus area - like you've sat down on something that is 'humming' and gently vibrating through your seat!

It last for about 30 seconds or so - just long enough for me to stop what i'm doing and think 'there's that weird twitchy/vibration thing again..' and then it stops.

Sorry to sound touchy about the 'gas' idea, but when i looked at this question asked by other ladies on yahoo so many smug people have 'It's just gas darling, theres no way its your baby yet..' Dooooh!

I've had it before too so you're not going daft. I have no idea what it is and when I mentioned it to my midwife she just gave me that "of course, dearie" smiling nod people do when they don't know the answer. She said she's heard of it but doesn't know exactly what it is.

So I made up my own theory which she said sounds reasonable. I think it's the ligaments stretching and everything growing, and other stuff making room. Sort of like when I big trucks drives past and the windows vibrate only it's going on inside.

Now I do sound silly.

I also hate how gas in an explanation for everything. People on YA are obsessed with gas.

misty0 · 18/02/2011 20:59

THANK YOU! Grin Yeah .... the stetching and shifting theory sounds good. Or maybe even as the muscles harden there it IS catching/pressing a nerve? Mmmm ... wonder just how many ladies feel this?

is it after sudden movement?

Ozzy1 · 19/02/2011 15:53

Ive had this my midwife said it was a nerve, quite common apparently and definately not gas!

witches · 19/02/2011 23:21

Iv had it before also when not pregnant and found it very odd indeed couldn't find much about what it was Confused i realise this is not very helpful but just wanted to say you are not alone!

nannyl · 19/02/2011 23:25

boredbuthappy · 20/02/2011 11:52

OP, just imagine all the changes your body is going through down there, to make a baby, there are bound to be a few twitches. I had some in the beginning as well, I think it's quite common.

crazyfeeling · 29/04/2015 14:49

Wow im not the only freak!! ;-) ive got this crazy feeling too like a buzzing mouse burrying a burrow! Ive had it for 2 weeks and just found out im pregnant 4-5 weeks, this only come to light cos of this crazy feeling im 40 & have 3 children sadly one an angel but ive never had this feeling before, the internet is great to know your not alone but I just can't find any answers as to whats going on, all I can put it down too is nerve endings and the fact my body is changing ready for the new baby :-) however ive also read men get it too!! Would love to know more??? Esp as tried telling dr but we both ended up in unknown giggles ;-)

bunny85 · 29/04/2015 23:15

Yes, I've had those too!! Never thought about it though... Maybe some nerve twitching? However having said that, I never had it before pregnancy, so it must be something related to that! Blush

crazyfeeling · 30/04/2015 11:25

Its amazing how many people suffer and I bet lots more in silence!! Im going to see my new midwife on wednesday so she might be able to shed some light its pretty much constant and I notice it lots and feels lower if on toilet for a wee so hard to explain feels almost like those fizzy sherbet sweets, but it seems to drive a buzz through my ears!! driving me crazy now hope it stops asap :-(

User24689 · 30/04/2015 11:32

I had this during a meeting when I was about 12/13 weeks pregnant and it stopped me mid-sentence as it was such a bizarre feeling!! I can't believe so many of us Have felt it but no one knows what it is! Grin

MissTwister · 30/04/2015 12:22

I get it when I poo sometimes - was so confused!!!

crazyfeeling · 01/05/2015 13:50

Im getting it at least 20 times a day, happens whether im stood up or sat down its happening right now!! When its intense it lasts about 10-20 seconds almost like somekind of soft drill! My husband thinks having a vibrating vagina/pelvis must be giving me some kind of cheap thrill but I can assure everyone its not!! im now starting to get annoyed with it esp as no-one has any answers, im just trying to stay possitive and think I must be one of the chosen ones to experience this and have happy thoughts about the magical wonders of a baby growing inside me! ive now worked out im actually about 6 weeks pregnant as last mnp 20th march and baby is due ......Xmas day!! eeek ;-)

SabellaRose · 08/02/2020 19:59

I am experiencing this vibrating in my uterus also now for the past 5 days and I am not pregnant. Its happening quite frequently and lasts between 1 and 3 seconds. Its really weird and does not feel natural at all, much like a phone vibrating. I have wondered if I am picking up road works or passing traffic but it seems to be that the regular thing in the equation is me!!! If anyone has any more insights I would value hearing them.

Leeth · 29/02/2020 10:37

Omg I’ve been having these for 3 days now too! Sitting on the couch I kept thinking my phone was buzzing next to me. I asked my partner if he could feel the couch vibration he said “it’s just the noise from the traffic driving past”. And it’s been happening non-stop ever since! Not sure if I’m pregnant. It’s too early to tell anyway lol

gtx1797h · 19/01/2025 14:03
