OK so eating for two is a myth, but you do get some extras calories in the third trimester (300-500 depending on the source of info & presumably your size).

For lunch today I am indulging in M&S Macaroni Cheese with salad for lunch. At 720 calories I'd usually shun the Mac Cheese though I LOVE it.

For me it's a third trimester delight.

What are yours?

Cadbury's creme eggs. Blush Every time I eat one I remind myself that in a week or so I'll be tandem-feeding a newborn and a toddler so I need the extra calories Grin

I WISH I was spending them on cheese (blue/soft/stinky etc) and pate!

Just discovered Mini Magnums - fab!

go you EauRouge - you must get extra calories for that. Are you BF toddler whilst preggers?? Don't you get at least 500 for that?

Yeah and she's boob-obsessed! It's hard work but it does mean that the weight has pretty much stayed off Grin I don't calorie count so I've no idea how much I'm eating but I've had really bad heartburn so I've been tending to snack all day rather than eat proper meals.

Mini magnums sound pretty good.... but right now I'm craving a bacon sandwich but I only have frozen bacon. Hurry up and defrost!

I'm mostly spending my third trimester calories on my first trimester (11 weeks) [bluch]

FindingStuffToChuckOut · 17/02/2011 13:59

oh I hear you re the heart burn! I think the value at the bottom of my oesophagus has up and left me. I'm in acid hell most days.

Pasta strangely pretty good though.

Another vote for cadbury's cream eggs, although I would say that at this time of year anyway even if I wasn't pregnant Blush

Oh and really really looking forward to pancake day Smile

I wish my LO would let me eat that extra 200 calories. Unfortunately baby has taken residence near my stomach and enjoys stretching there when I'm eating. I find I actually eat less than my massive pre-pregnancy appetite would demand. But I do try to eat a little extra dark chocolate with the added excuse that "my mw told me to" Grin

I did not know this was the case! I didnt realise you got extra calories in third trimester I thought it was the same all the way through (not that ive stuck to that :)) But now I know Im going to enjoy the chocolate gateaux ive just defrosted all the more! x

TBH I've got no idea what the guidelines are and if I did then I wouldn't be counting, I've got a very busy 2.4 yo so no time to check everything! I think eating to your appetite and making sure you get a wide range of stuff is the best approach. And Cadbury's creme eggs, obviously.

yes enjoy it justbeing - what I understand is "eating for two" is an ill advised myth but you do require some extra calories in the last trimester. Not that I spend my days counting calories or anything, far from it, but now I'm in the last third, I will enjoy the odd indulgence even more - acid reflux permitting (and fingers crossed it's been pretty good for the last few days - smaller meals is about the only thing that helps).
