my baby also measured on the smaller side at 20 weeks scan. then went 3 weeks later and was fine. i think they all develop differently and different stages. don't worry about it just yet. hope it goes well for you!

My baby has been measuring small all the way through. Then at 32 weeks he seemed to have a sudden growth spurt, and now at 37 weeks he is measuring larger than average. (If the growth scans are anything to go by, that is.) Seems he decided to leave most of his growing 'til the third trimester. Don't worry - they really do grow at their own rate.

pheeebs do you know how much you weighed when born? There was a thread on "Childbirth" recently about mother/father birth weight and baby weight and someone on there said it comes from the mother (unless baby is premature).

In my case, DD was 5lbs 13oz. I went overdue and the obstetrician was a bit concerned until I told him I was 6lbs at birth and then he was ok with it and didn't force me to be induced.

I wouldn't worry!

Re: the 'coming from the mother' theory. I was 4lb 4oz at birth, but DS's were 9lb (term) 10lb (38 weeks) and 6lb 14 (37 weeks).

I agree though that babies can have growth spurts and as long as baby is within what is average it's probably not too much to worry about. I hope things go Ok for you.
